Think it was Hope Solo who said that a big problem is that women are simply smaller than men, so being able to cover a goal the same as someone who is half a foot to a foot taller just simply isn't going to happen. It's a good point, and maybe women's football could benefit from a reduction in size of the goalsAs somebody with a young daughter who I hope will be into football one day , I no longer take the piss like I once did . But I still believe the goalkeepers let women's football down and always have . The outfield players are getting better and better and are decent , but most of the goalies cannot dive properly or catch anything above head height . Until they sort this out it will never be that enjoyable to watch for me

Campos was brilliant, but very much an outlier on the height side of thing. I'd imagine most pro keepers in the mens' game are at least 6'1, when you factor in reach as well - google gives a figure of arm span in men being give or take +5cm more than height compared to only +1.2cm for women that must make a difference.Jorge Campos was 5’7” and was one of Mexico’s most successful keepers, plenty of women are over 6ft, it seems a fairly poor excuse.

Doubling the diameter of the balls they play with may be cheaperThink it was Hope Solo who said that a big problem is that women are simply smaller than men, so being able to cover a goal the same as someone who is half a foot to a foot taller just simply isn't going to happen. The BBC are showing every game because they have to fill their 24 hours with that or repeats of the same old thing, Eggheads or Pointless. Seriously looking at not buying one more licence (and I'm under 75).Not sure why the BBC is plugging the women's game so relentlessly- the public interest is not there.
Just watched a couple of mins of ENGSCO and it was dire.
Players looked clumsy and many had a very heavy touch. Expected a slower less dynamic game than the men's team, but there is no excuse for poor technique and lack of ability.
Probably wouldn't do well in a diplomatic job !I see. A self appointed hanging judge & jury. Unblemished record to boot.
Aye not one word on how utterly hapless Thailand were. No ****ing perspective from commentator or pundits.****ish crowd celebrating so excitedly as the smaller poorer country gets crushed.
Shame on Jonathan Pierce too for roaring like a **** as all the goals went in.
The state of football these days.
I read these comments without knowing the score, I googled Thailand women to find out , 45 interesting minutes on the internet later I still don't know the score ..
Bardsley will cost us in the end, she always does. Telford would be a better choice even though she is a midget by mens standards. There are a few good goalies about in the womens game but not many, and they seem to make the most basic errors all the timeI take your point and women being shorter than men is obviously a disadvantage, but England keeper Karen Bardsley is 6’ and still isn’t any good.
And we probably only have her because of her height, as she’s not actually English.
