We really shouldn't look like two completely different teams home and away, it's still a pitch with grass on it, yet we do.

The fatigue thing isn't an excuse because we've been ****e away all season apart from Everton..even the Burnley win wasn't impressive.

We're mid.. Not quite got it unfortunately.. Isak was a huge loss, but I don't think the money spent in the summer has been anything but a disaster.

Rationally, it’s a much needed clean sheet and a draw against a wolves team with their trails up, we got them at the wrong time arguably. But there are some old and some new alarm bells.

Same old - flat formation, slow play, same patterns mainly wide right, limited squad options and no desire to even try something different. Amorim was absolutely crucified for taking this approach, Howe just gets a shrug and “there’s always next time” free pass. I don’t feel like he’s under enough pressure, which is seeping into a mostly lethargic squad who lack enough pace and dynamism. Late on today both Wissa and Barnes were comfortably out paced by the leagues worst defence. Elanga looks nailed on to be the worst signing we’ve ever made, pound for pound.

Some new - Woltemade looks absolutely shot. Nothing is being done to make the game work for him or allow him to get involved. The painfully slow attacks resulting in basic crosses are so very easy to defend against. We work better playing fast into Nick and him finding runners in behind. But aside from that, Tonali, Bruno, Gordon just don’t look invested. Barnes had another poor one as he lacks movement, and the whole set up is just not working - for me you can almost feel the frustration from the better players. I just think we could easily switch to the double pivot 4231 and lose nothing, teams are letting us have the ball as we’re playing with three defensive midfielders and there’s no support for the striker.

Something has to change. We need fresh faces not picked from Howes “must have PL experience” shortlist, we need a change in approach, we need more pace throughout the side. We’re desperately predictable which doesn’t matter if your players are on top form or enjoying their football, but ours aren’t.

It wasn’t. The only impressive away performance this season is the first half at Everton.

It’s a serious issue.

We also don’t look remotely like signing any players.

Guys we shouldn't need signings. Wissa is available.. We're missing literally one key player... One.

Yep, bar Tino that’s the strongest XI. I’d even argue Miley has been even better at RB so the best possible XI was available and that’s the football served up.

Reactions: Munson.

200m wasted for me. Even Woltemade is looking crap now. Mainly because of our style of slow play.

Only we could spend 200m on players who turn out to be crap. All our new signings bar Thiaw look like their careers have gone backwards under steady eddie.

Ahem…. Whatever happened to the Howe makes players better claims.

That old chestnut is going to keep coming out. Is he just playing in a terrible system. There must have been a player there to score the amount of goals he did last season.

Maybe tactics isn’t Howes bag though. Why have a plan B when you don’t even have a plan A!

This injury crisis is merely a fallacious claim. If they sign players and things are still crap it'll be that they need time.

The truth is people will find a way to avoid facing realities they prefer not to acknowledge... They'll find a hypothetical or an excuse rather than just saying the signings aren't working and we don't look good.

I’d genuinely be trying to sell all three as well as shipping out Ramsdale, Trippier, Schar and Lascelles. I’d also get rid of either Gordon or Barnes. Try to get as much back as you can and reinvest it in about a dozen younger, developing and risky buys, give the squad a complete overhaul.

Woltemade is a huge shame. Has won countless player of the tournament awards through his young career , wanted by Bayern, but he’s come into a system that’s been utterly found out by all opposition managers and has a manager who isn’t interested in trying something different. Hes a Thomas Muller player for me, just get him playing with a striker and he’ll be flying. Honestly
I know it’s like a broken record but just try 4231. I’d even consider Barnes up front rather than wide, he’s always ineffective on the right. But please try something different.

Would you trust the people in charge to actually make any improvements though?

As I said elsewhere I’m hugely disappointed we haven’t seen something different this window. I’d bet my house on Guehi being the only target we considered which is why City moved for him. Another we would never get, but the lack of any kind of rumour for centre backs when we’ve only got two available is alarming.

The whole point of the Sporting Director model is he sets/agrees the identity for the club. Once that is set, then players are bought and sold to achieve and then excel at that identity.

Nufc seem to be stuck as to what that identity will be and in the summer we bought plays based on old (runners) and new possession based ( Big Nick). However Howe is not setting his side up for either and so we see the toothless, turgid games we are seeing.

Sick of people saying we’re tired.
£150m players on the bench who have hardly played.
