I agree the performance was on a par with forest but this time we got the result. Can't really expect us to be perfect every game when there's an important game every 3 or 4 days. Game management is a key part of that, and that includes doing just enough to win when playing badly.
I don't want him to take the touch. I want salah to. Szobo just needed to toe poke it home away from the keeper. He hit it back across goal towards the keeper and got unlucky then cos it could have gone anywhere. Salah did the hard work making the intercept but had to get it in target or take the touch and try shoot. Even taking the touch maybe he is fouled.
The thing is after 6 games and 15 points that puts us 25 from safety and 55 from 4th 32 games, 55 points. 1.8 points per game from here. 18 wins from 32 gets 4th.
Szobo hit it directly infront of him side footed and the keeper just spread himself running along the line and got a leg on it, almost even squirmed through his legs. It’s one of them that 9/10 goes in. Nothing else szobo needed or should have done diff imo
100% agree. If Ally saves that we say it was world-class. Cannot think of anything Szobbo could have done differently there. He did have a ****e game though, and as I keep saying, when he is off the boil the whole midfield is dysfunctional. But no need to run through the list of who was terrible - let's just say Virgil and Ally were solid, apart from one idiotic mishap, Ibu was immense, and Gravenberch was far and away not our worst midfielder. Onwards and upwards.
Side foot is the point. Connect straight on that goes in. Sure he's unlikely.itndeflects at it does but the point is hes given the keeper a chance that he shouldn't have had
This is what I said earlier, I don't blame him at all for that. He's a couple of yards away from the keeper and from his perspective the keeper's frame almost fills the goal - he has a split-second to get something on it and no chance to pick his spot. Nowhere near as bad a miss as some are making out imo.
We are top so all good but I don’t expect us to stay there very long on this showing. We haven’t really played a top team yet. Yesterday and vs Forest, we were ponderous in possession and key players looked poor. Some may have to accept that they cannot play twice a week for the foreseeable. It’s a long season ahead and we are already looking tired in some positions…. That said, one game at a time, I’m hoping for some real improvement against palace and hopefully some of the older legs rested midweek.
We are probably 1 point above what we deserve. A point v forest and a point v wolves would maybe be fair on performance but hey ho. All we can do is play what's in front of us at the time and accumulate the points. 25 from safety, that's job 1 Job 2 is hit 60 for Europe Job 3 is hit 70 for cl After that the only target is 90 for the title race I think coming into this season everyone would have been happy with 70
The most important thing is he got into the position right? But the side foot is not straight on, the video is clear thst it is back slight and up and gives the keeper a shot. Toe that and it gots lower and in. That's all I'm saying. The important thing here is that that chance and the koante goal both come from getting round the back of a side playing 451 and trying to sit deep. We got round the back and found players. Imo that's the best way to play v dep lying sides. Play in front and you are much reduced in options.
On the other hand our style actually suits bigger teams as they are more likely to come at us for us to play through rather than a block of 11 behind the ball so we might be even better against them.
Not sure why you think we only deserved a point from yesterday? Was only one team that would win that game.
We didn't exactly create a lot after they brainfarted back the lead to us. We struggled to create.much, got a lead then threw it away. We.just got the lucky break back then sat there on it. Wolves.certainly didn't deserve a win amd they were really bad,.lacking confidence bit for me we were really really poor. Especially macallister inexplicably.
So we got a lucky break with our 2nd goal but their first goal wasn’t a kick break? Surely they then even themselves out. We also missed a sitter from szobo. Salah missed an open goal and we had a 3v1 chance ****ed up by a **** Salah pass. We created about 5 more chances than wolves had.
Their lad literally brainfarted and lay across Jota. It just doesn't feel a very good win, it feels like we got out of jail. 1-0 and fair enough we got there but throwing in a goal like that feel like all the same old stupid errors that stop us winning the big prizes.
