I think that could well be the caseI think the only way Watson goes, is if he's asked to leave.

It's not always about the money. It's being settled and happy with your mates..later on for the "If you’regood enough". Just ask Jack Clarke
My thoughts too. Utter prick of a bloke as an agent.Like daughter like Father then
Was thinking exactly thisif he goes, we should ask to keep him until the end of the season.
I disagree. Brighton are a very good settled premier team. Currently much “bigger” in football terms than we are. It’d be very good for himI think the only way Watson goes, is if he's asked to leave.

I dont think there is much doubt Watson has the biggest upside to his development. Brighton arent the only club who have followed his progress here closely.I think Watson could become a major asset, so if he's happy to stay I would keep him and look to extending his contract here.
What is noticeable is that the likes of Brighton and Forest have been sniffing around Watson, so they must see something in him that they can develop. I haven't seen any such interest expressed in Mundle. So that may confirm that Watson has the greater upside and should be encouraged to remain here.
I hope he stays if he does express the will to continue his development here.
Was thinking exactly this
Brighton would likely keep him in the U21s and have him training with the 1st team, they seem to like to embed players in before thinking of loan moves for them
Average age must be 47 in that squad nowWrexham signing Sam Smith from Reading for 2m and Jay Rodriguez. Some serious money being splashed in L1 this season.

i agree, particularly given that he’s recovering from an injury and hasn’t kicked a ball since November. He’s sick of u21 football so don’t think he’ll go, might get a big new contract though to fend off interest.

Mundle isn’t in his way. We’ve shown that the opportunity is there. It isn’t really at Brighton or at least it’s less likely to be.If he goes to Brighton, he likely goes on loan to another championship club. If Clarke isn’t good enough to make the step up for Ipswich, there’s no way Watson makes the step up to start for Brighton yet. He’s not ready. Money talks though, and he might be annoyed that Mundle is in his way.
I think given they bid 4 in the summer and got rejected, that 5 would be insulting given how he's looked. 10 minimum for me upfront. Heard hints he doesn't want to sign a new deal. The important factor here is whether Watson is willing to sign a new deal.
If he's willing, then we're in a strong position to say no to Brighton.
If he isn't willing, then selling him for, say, £5m now, rather than £5m in the summer when he has just 12 months left, makes a lot of sense to me. It means we can invest that £5m in the next few days towards a player like Edwards, who improves us and the balance of our squad instantly.
Good player just depends what he identifies asWrexham signing Sam Smith from Reading for 2m and Jay Rodriguez. Some serious money being splashed in L1 this season.
