Apparently last year when there was rumours of him going to Brighton his girlfriend was all for the move and ready to go but we rejected it

If all that happened, or similar, I'd pretend Watson's injury was permanent ...

... then I'd forget all about him and crack on with who we have, not who we don't.

Losing Stewart and Clarke has shown we're building a club that can handle departures instead of being rocked by them.

And, as I keep saying, the only way to attract the likes of Ballard, Cirkin, Clarke, etc, is to let them go when the time is right.

I don't think the timing is right on a Watson deal, but we won't always get to choose the timing. We just have to make the best choice that's right for everyone.

Whilst I'd love to see Watson develop here over the next 3 or 4 years, there's no doubt in my mind that my (hypothetical and probably unrealistic) suggestions would leave us comfortably strongly.

That is ultimately what the whole ethos of the club is about for us. Develop players, give them an opportunity and when they decide to move, get the best deal and reinvest wisely to strengthen overall.

We also have to be honest - whilst we're loving the idea of having Mundle and Watson as competition on the left, the best thing for both of them is to play every week and when fully fit, one of them won't be happy to be regularly on the bench for too long.

I heard Brighton bid around 3 million i the summer

For me it starts at double that now, plus add ons depending how he gets on

I do think we are the best club for his development but Brighton wouldn't be a bad move for the lad

I want him to stay as his upside is incredible, plus he can help us immediately as well

If we were to sell him I'd be all over getting Clarke back
One thing im not a fan of is selling our long term prospects and replacing them with loans mind. Fair enough if they are with an option to buy

we also need to take their eyes our if he goes. Hooefully he doesnt anyway

I wouldn't be selling any of our assets in this window. If we manage to get promoted we'll probably get at least another year out of all of them and be able to sell for far great fees after they've got a year of Premier League experience.

I guess as far as Watson goes....things go on behind closed doors which we are not privy to...and I bet the club will look at the bigger picture, not just the here and now. I don't want the lad to leave, but if the club feel it benefits the squad in the short, medium and long term...then so be it

I think Watson could become a major asset, so if he's happy to stay I would keep him and look to extending his contract here.

What is noticeable is that the likes of Brighton and Forest have been sniffing around Watson, so they must see something in him that they can develop. I haven't seen any such interest expressed in Mundle. So that may confirm that Watson has the greater upside and should be encouraged to remain here.

I hope he stays if he does express the will to continue his development here.
