4 goals and 5 assists so far this season, his first full season getting regular game time and only being nineteen years old.

i would argue that is not a bad return.

He has been canny absolutely but if Wilson got injured and it was just Mayenda in the 9 for the rest of the season, IMO it would lead to failure. We need a touch more, at this moment in time. IMO.

I mean if archer was available, Christ that would be a massive jump in quality

Maybe. But he isn't ready to lead the line here yet. We must consider the here and now and not just succession planning.
This is my point. The here and now is the remainder of the season. That’s one thing. However we have to also think about the implications of the summer too. The simple truth is that the likes of Rigg, Watson, Ogunsuyi (sooner rather than later) are not Sunderland players if they’re not playing. Their reputation is such that they have no need to wait round here if there isn’t a career benefit (ie game time). Add Young to that list soon too. The only way we keep them is if they are very near to the first team pitch. So while I hope that we are clever and get what we need in January, I certainly hope that we don’t do it in a way that ****s us from the summer, too. In my view a permanent striker signing this window would leave an odd man out from the summer if we don’t go up. I’d put my money on that being Isidor.

Archer would improve us so I am absolutely happy
To go along with that, it’s where my mindset is at the minute quality over quantity.

Wilson is too cheap if a price not to buy. He will be bought.

Watson owes us another season anyway with his injury and lack of game time. And isn't considered as a 9.

Rigg is playing every game.

Trey is just starting out TBF. Bit part role will do.

We are light in the CF position now. Succession planning never comes before short term objectives and success.

on Wilson I guess the only reason we might not buy him is if his wages are insane for championship level.

When would a new signing need to be in by to be available for Monday?
Pretty sure it's Friday lunchtime(ish) to be registered for a Saturday, would it be the same?

i really like him, has that arrogance you want in a goalscorer.
I still think we need one more forward mind. Goals from the right or another different type of striker or both. We need more goals now and if we add in Mundle/Watson later even better

Can't see any new signings being involved this Monday
