Clarke was also relied on as the sole goalscorer and we didn't have a competent striker haha4 and 2 in 15 league games overall, Clarke had 15 and 4 in 40 - Mundle did have a game he was subbed on in 90th min though so fair enough.

100% mate wish him nothing but the best, need a fresh link or something to distract usSpot on, I loved Clarke with us and I hope he smashes it at Ipswich (unless playing us of course)
He gave everything for us and was part of the group of players that got us all excited about our club again
Also shows how far we've come that some wouldn't want him back, we have some unreal talent at the club these days
Clarke would no doubt be class in this team. On the subject of production, Clarke got a goal or assist every 190 mins for us last season. This season, Mundle has got a goal or assist every 186 mins. Difficult to separate the effect of having a better team around them, but Mundle is producing well for us. What he gains from having a better team around him, hey may also lose from not being the only show in town. But if you had the choice of Clarke and promotion or Mundle developing and missing out you’d take Clarke every day. His returns for us was like 1 every other game, Mundle was 1 in 3 I think before he got injured. Not saying Mundle won’t be a better player but at the minute he’s nowhere near Clarke. I agree with using the money from his sale to fund others coming because Mepham has totally transformed the team but if we can bid for Cannon I reckon there’s still money in the pot and if we could get Clarke back on loan it would mental not to. But there’s no evidence we could or he would. Was just making a point that he would be quality in this team now that have a very tactically sound manager
The 2 assists didn't include the one he very clearly assisted for Isidor against derby - can watch that back and see how obvious it was. This would make it 7g/a in 1000 mins or 0.63 per 90.
You mean assist of the season? That’s why I think Assists are a bit of a **** metric sometimes. Obviously some are great play and put on a plate for someone but others are a 5 yard pass or a deflected shot going nowhere near the goal. Neil got an assist for making a simple pass to Isidor when he ran 70 yards and put the ball in the net at Hull![]()

Could Riis be the missing piece?Emil Riis a genuine target, according to Fishpaste on X.

I’d like thatThink I might have mentioned before but Riis and Goodrham would be solid pickups at fairly reasonable prices. Would give us 2 decent to good players while keeping a loan slot open for a late prem loan.
Exactly, the thing I find funny is some fans saying if we go up , we'll come straight back down. Then in the next breath claim if we don't go up we'll lose about 6 or 7 players. The sheff utd transfer debate is an interesting one, I like the signings for them - I think all 3 will do well for them. I actually find it strange that Southampton aren't recalling Charles and using him this season, their season is done so should be focusing on the players that'll help them nxt season and he's one of then
I don't mind what sheff utd have done but I still prefer what we are doing. I see folk making the argument that there fans will be happy if they go up but come straight back down - try telling that to Southampton fans this season, I know a couple season ticket holders and they are hating it
I don't want to just get promoted to the PL to come back down, I want to have a team that could compete when we get there.
Now we might go up this season and then come back down but I think when you have younger players like we do you hope they keep kicking on and that could stand us in a great place when we get back to the PL
Recruitment is so tough as you are always balancing short term success with longer term growth. I actually think Sheff Utd are getting the balance right, even though I don't think many of their players could make the step up
Time will tell who gets it right this yr and fir the seasons to come
Clarke also took penalties remember4 and 2 in 15 league games overall, Clarke had 15 and 4 in 40 - Mundle did have a game he was subbed on in 90th min though so fair enough.
Riis would be a really smart buy. He wouldn't be expensive at all, i'd expect under £2m, due to his contract expiring in the summer. If we get promoted and he can't make the step up we'd probably make a profit.
As much as I think Frigan could play wide, he hasn’t much I don’t think he’d be the versatile guy and wouldn’t see us sign bothCan see Riis and Frigan both joining as RLB wants a CF (Riis) and a Versatile attacker (Frigan)
I'll be happy with them both
