Sunderland have made a dramatic late bid to sign Tom Cannon from Leicester City - and are offering MORE than rivals Sheffield United.
The Black Cats are prepared to buy Cannon at the end of his loan period if they are promoted and pay a stunning £13 million in a down payment plus extras.
Blades hoped that £7 million guaranteed on going up would do the job but Sunderland’s numbers have changed the picture.
Cannon is waiting on Leicester accepting a fee and pulling him out of the Stoke City loan.
Sunderland have been trying loan to buy deals for several players. But the extras on top come as a shock to all sides.

I suppose it is possible but I don't think I've ever believed anything less than us practically doubling Sheff Utd's offer.

I was thinking he wasn’t what we need

But if RLB really likes him this much we have to trust them.

Let’s hope he does the business. I’m glad the owners are trying to back the manager when we have the best chances of going up

Haway the lads
Or hes a decent player and still young but £13 million is ridiculous, thats if its even true

Two things to say

1) I know it’s Nixon but he evidently has a source for Tom cannon, has been good reporting on him for a couple years

2) the add ons will be a big chuck of the 13 million, so we shouldn’t worry as most of them will only come if he does the business. Likely 7/8/9 million plus add ons imo, which is a very fair price

Alan Nixon talks utter ****e. Just a clickbait merchant

Quite shocked that some are turning their noses up at Brereton Diaz and Tom Cannon like <laugh>

Who do we think we are? Isidor, Mayenda, Connolly and Rusyn as our senior options… <doh>

I can get the view that many others have about Diaz and Cannon. I’m not a particular fan of either of them to be honest.

What seals it for me though is if it’s true that Diaz only wants to go to Sheffield Utd and that Cannon has turned us down previously.

Team spirit is very important and we have a good group here. I’d hate to risk that for the sake of lads who don’t want to be here.

Well that sounds so absolutely ****ing stupid that I can’t possibly believe it’s true.

Fine to trust the club they’ve earned it, it’s big money if it’s true but it’s not my money so I can’t tell them how to spend it, still not convinced it is true but would definitely improve our options

My thoughts are the same, if Reggie wants him, go get him
