I know he’s been playing for the 21s but surely Joe Anderson leaves permanently in January?

23 years old, I think there’d be League Two interest if the fee was a few K or even a free transfer.

I think there's a few of the deadwood that will need moving on. Some of them can't get a place on the bench now and we have Samed, Alese and Seelt due to return, who haven't been occupying the bench. There are some who are not young by any means, like Anderson, who are going to get nowhere near the first team. It's time for us to suggest that their futures lie elsewhere, if we haven't already done so.

Yes and no. I think we need to be careful about how we as a fanbase talk about January, and what is possible in that window. Are there signings that can guarantee our place in the top two? Doubtful IMO. If we miss out is that because we weren't 'ambitious enough'? Or is it because of luck, or financial imbalance, or just because other teams perform brilliantly?

The likelihood is that we will continue to do what we have done throughout KLDs time here - stick to our process, add players where we see value and not focus solely on the immediate term. We're never going to go 'all in' on promotion as they clearly don't want to have to go into a contraction if we miss out. If we miss out this year it isn't failure - even if KS doesn't hit a January home-run in the next window. Given the way the club has recovered this season by sticking to its plan - even in the face of supporter panic - it's past the point where they've earned a little bit of trust IMO.
I agree but we may find out that some of our summer buisness bears fruit after January as we seem to get players and allow them to develop (look at Mundle and to be fair Jobe). Our players are given time and Ithink the need for immediate impact is not really there at the moment.
We have some fantastic young players who will eventually get their chance and we have some others who just need some time to settle in and get to work.
All in all I thought that the last window and how we started this season would be telling for KS but in truth it has just took a bit of time to see the fruits of his and the teams labour. My opinion is that we will gradually get stronger up to a point with this model but I feel it can only take the club so far, but we are nowhere near that point yet and still have a way to go before we are competing in the big leagues when it comes to player purchases and sales.

It’s an interesting dilemma. Right now he’s struggling to get in the team past O’Nien and Mepham. If we were to get Mepham on a permanent plus an 8 figure lump sum that wouldn’t be bad all things considered. It tends to get sticky when that money doesn’t necessarily get invested during the same window. And to be fair we still appear to have the Clarke money waiting to be used in anger.

Would we get a 8 figure sum for him? Given his injuries, form and stock have been plummeting this year. Deals and high prices are always about timing, and this isn't a good one. Ballard is still a top player mind, but while he isn't playing I can see why some on his side will be raising questions about the future.

There is plenty of dead wood really to be skipped and replaced with 1 or 2 high quality of player that can push and support the first team. Our depth isn't actually as strong as some make out IMO. Especially in the CM, Fullback and Striker positions. We need reinforcements.

Agree there are some needing to be moved on. However, with regard to CM and Striker, there are players who we haven't had the chance to see yet,and as long as we're able to evaluate by January, it may be that depth isn't an issue. Right fullback however,I would agree with short term, although mindful that, even there, we have injured players to come back in.

I think it’s doable. There’ll be a low level prem team who’d want to shore things up and will pay the January premium to do so. Harry Souttar made the move in Jan 23 for 15 rising to 20. With Ballard’s contract length I’d imagine getting 10 plus the 3-4 we’d apparently need to get Mepham wouldn’t be beyond the realms of possibility.

Yeah I generally think that we don’t really have a depth issue. More we have an availability issue currently, plus a trust and caution issue from RLB.

I wouldn't understand why we would let Ballard go...he's been a top defender for us. There are injury issues,I know, and I'm really hoping he comes back from this latest international farce fit and well. As I understand it,we have an option on Mepham....him and a fit Ballard is a really good pairing.

I’d certainly prefer we don’t sell him. But we have an established central pairing that is performing really well and he can’t get past right now. Defences rarely get rotated - and RLB looks like he rotates far less than others. It may come to the point where keeping him around just erodes his value without him actually helping us on the pitch. Very early to make that sort of decision though. Injury or performance can change the pecking order in an instant. What is true is that we’ve got a large number of central defenders with ability for this league. That brings benefits, but also challenges.

I believe Joe was offered a free transfer hours after the window shut, he chose to stay.

Spurs apparently open to loaning Archie Gray out, defensive midfielder and a capable full back when needed, would love him here apart from the fact it’s absolutely nailed on he’d go back to Leeds if available
I don't know mate. We know how much his dad, Andy, enjoyed his time here so that could sway it to us :emoticon-0105-wink:

Aye, it’ll be back to Leeds if he’s available.

Other than Matty Young I would be happy for all of our loanees to go plus Ba, Adil, and Jewi much as i would have loved the latter to have worked out better. Strengthen RB in particular - spend what is needed to get Mepham on a permanent and a bit of competition at LW, save the rest for the summer
