I don’t buy this whole players aren’t good enough, some have hardly been tried and when they have it’s for 5/10 mins at the end of a game we’re trying to scrape a draw from.
Stop playing players out of form and in positions they aren’t used to and we may see an improvement, to keep playing the same players but just moving them around the pitch isn’t helping anyone.
Agreed. On Friday our back four was:

CB-CB-CM-RB

Surely moving Seelt in alongside, and shifting o9 to left back means we only have one player out of position?
Also, persisting with Ekwah as a CDM when he's anything but and playing Pritchard RW is just madness

If we end this window without a balanced squad AGAIN then people are rapidly going to lose faith

I'm going to be mental here and even suggest I might play O'Nien RB and Hume LB.

O'Nien is by no means a RWB, but he'd do a job there. And with his energy he'd be great at overlapping Pritchard and allowing him to move inside more.

I feel that there are two reasons our style of play has been made more slow this season than last. One of those is O'Nien playing CB and this desire to play out from the back. It slows us down massively. Last season we got the ball up the field quickly as our defenders werent as comfortable on the ball. So whilst O'Nien is so much better at playing that way than Batth is, its actually changed the way we play for the negative, IMO.

Seelt and Ballard at CB, with an instruction to hit longer occasionally, would suit us perfectly.

That was sort of my thinking. O9 can "do a job" almost anywhere, so why not move the others to their natural position and have O9 as the outlier until we can sign a LB or Pembele is fit enough to play 90 mins

Alternatively we play Seelt in a 3 but ask him to step in to midfield as a CDM

Something has to change. If we set up like we did on Friday v Stoke we will lose comfortably

Sunderland odds on and Stoke 3/1. The bookies have this wrong, just like they did on Friday night.

I wish i could remember who we played in the away game recently where for the first 20 minutes we were pinging diagonal balls from the back to the wings - only did it for about 20 minutes but we didnt half push them back and get on the front foot.

We havent even tried in since and i dont know why

Hull, possibly?

This is why I struggle to criticise the summer window to the same extent others do. We are horribly mismanaging our players and have been all season.

Jobe, a great talent but needs a permanent position and his minutes managing or he will burn out and his development will stagnate.

Seelt, looks a really good player but gets dropped after playing well and then plays out of position when he gets back into the team.

Aouchiche, another who in limited minutes has actually looked pretty good when played in his natural position as a 10, but keeps getting played as a striker or a winger which is unfair on him.

Rusyn, Mayenda, Burstow and Hemir, just going to lump all four in the same section, what the **** is the plan here? Constantly getting less than 20 touches in games, constantly isolated, never given any service, only Burstow has been given a fair run of games, Rusyn played well and gets dropped under Mowbray and then SCORES and gets dropped under Beale. Unfair.

Pembele, been injured. Hopefully we see him play consistently between now and the end of the season.

Yeah the window could've been better but unless we start to manage our players better every window will be a failure. And I don't want to hear the nonsense about 'they'd play if they performed in training' well some of them have performed in GAMES and still get dropped. Pathetic.

Was it Millwall?
