Bit more media gossip today on Neil. They’re saying 10 million like which is an absolute joke and they’re also saying Clarke to Sheffield Utd or Burnley which is the other joke of the day. It appears the silly season has begun and the agents are back in work after the New year break.
Think that article was a Carlton Palmer opinion piece with a very clickbait title

Thats a ridiculous figure for Neil, if Alex Scott is worth £25m then we should be after something close to that, christ even Henderson went for £20m over 10 years ago! I don't think he will leave this season anyway, the lad wants to play in the Premier league with his home club.

Also why would Clarke go to a team that will be in the Championship next season?

I just hope we hold our nerve and get what the players are actually worth should any leave, instead of being bullied by the Premier League teams.
I think we’ll keep them, it’s agents this. We don’t need the money cos we’ve pulled some in, we’re competing in the top 6, there’s only a benefit if the sale allows us to reinvest the money and I doubt those players will align in the January window.

No sniff of 10m

If it meant making immediate top championship ready replacement signing, I'd be tempted at selling Neil if a £20m offer came in. We've seen from others that the only way to make top signings in this division is to either have parachute payments or to have sold big first.

I definitely wouldn't sell more than one player this window mind.

Like I've said though, I think its much more likely that both Neil and Clarke go in the summer. I'm less sure Ballard will go. Think he has another year with us.

I also wouldn't entertain ANY transfers after 25th January unless we have already signed the replacement.

The ideal situation might be selling neil for say 25 million but getting him back on loan then spending some of that money on a CDM, Winger n CF

Then using the rest of the money in the summer

Yeah thats utopia. Having a large transfer fee to play with but without the immediate rush to spend it.

If Liverpool came in with that offer (£25m plus a loan back) I'd say it was a great deal for all parties and accept it, personally. Would be made up for Neil as well.

We’d need to shift a few for that to be the case. I still think it’s a bloated squad and not ideal for the likes of Rigg and Watson trying to break through.

Yeh I don't think we necessarily go out and replace Clarke, which sounds ridiculous like considering his impact. If Clarke was sold, I'd use the money to buy a centre forward, and stick Rusyn out on his wing, with Watson also getting more opportunities later in the season.

Agree with this, just an example but do we continue with a matete if it means blocking and potentially losing rigg? Riggs ceiling is definitely higher

I don’t believe we have to hold our nerve, offers like that probably don’t even reach KLD they will be binned long before then.

I don’t mind Matete but I personally believe he won’t make it here. I’d like to see a couple of youngsters going out on loan this window. Bennette and Hemir maybe.

I think like the last transfer window the rumours will build and then heads will heat up until we are selling 4 or 5 players on deadline day. IMO I think we may sell maybe 1 first team player but that will generally be if they want to move and not because we have actively looked at a sale. I can however see 2 or 3 going out on loan top gain fitness and minutes on the pitch.
All in all i will try and do what I did in the last window and keep my head until the dust settles and see where we are.
I do think we have one of the most talented squads in the league and with a good second half of the season we could build some momentum, but again patience is the key as it is pointless getting all these young players if we do not develop them and allow that progression to be seen on the pitch if we sell as soon as there is interest then I would be very disappointed, but KS has stated repeatedly that we are not a selling club we are building for the future so at this time I will put my faith in the club.

Think the likes of jewi and hemir would go out on loan, burstow might get sent back (the issue is he cant go on loan to anyone else), rigg would still be in the squad for me and watson will come into it more next season. We need a cdm no matter what and i think a CF is a must. I would love another quality winger as dont feel we have depth there

Wasn't there rumours in the summer that we would swap deal with Liverpool for Curtis Jones (I remember reading) I would rip their hands off.

Im hearing the club won't discuss any deal unless over 20 million - thats why my mates club wont be bidding for him at the minute

He says theres no set fee from what hes been told, his sporting director just said to him that itll be over 20 million before we speak to them

That's good to hear and the valuation is correct as far as I am concerned, that should be the very minimum for Clarke, Neil, Patterson and Ballard. Possibly Hume too as he will definitely have scouts watching him.

We don't need to sell and they are all under contract.

I wouldn’t begrudge Dan Neil a big move but he won’t be going anywhere for £10m.

The club don’t seem to be mugs anymore, so I’m fairly confident that we’ll get big money for anyone we might lose.
