Yes I have one of these. I'm there now.
With the beginning of the games only days away, what better time to start a new thread. I love this stuff. The sight of folk skating around in circles, with bits of sharpened steel attached to their lower limbs, while other people with planks of wood strapped to their feet, belt down snowy mountain sides, and yet others jump off bloody scary ice slides and soar out into the great unknown. It's no wonder Eddie the Eagle only jumped a small distance. I'd want to get back to mother earth as soon as possible too.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to the speed skating. After the Dutch went mad at the last games and won just about everything, the rules had to be changed to give the rest of a a bloody chance. I can't wait, even the sheilas will be worth watching. And not just for their bodies either. At the risk of appearing overtly sexist, there's no finer sight than a lady speed skater's legs, they stretch from there to there, (says he pointing) and every inch is pure heaven. But enough of that, the games are about sport ... with some politics thrown in. Enjoy, I know I will.

Ashamed to say haven't watched any of it as yet. Apart from not having a lot of interest in it, times, including repeats, a bit inconvenient. Like Biathlon and Curling though, and of course, Ice Hockey. Wife tells me Germany doing well, just heard their National Anthem being played.

Am watching Curling (Men) right now, and GB down to Canada 2-4 at the half-way point. Canada's team look the goods, as usual, they really know this game. It's the only thing to do in the harsh Winter months there (well, almost, <whistle>).

The German double luge team known as the Bayern Express, Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt have just another gold to add the one they won four years ago in Sochi. These guys are the masters of the double seater. They've won four World Cups as well.

Cyc, up to now there are eight entries on this site and seven of them are from you. Does that not tell you anything ? Like, that this form of 'sport' is just cold-weather pornography and nobody in their right mind pays it any attention ? Even the event-names are loaded with sexual innuendo:-

When the USA stage their national championships at Brokeback Mountain, perhaps you'll all come to recognise the truth.

Watched the speed skating 1,000m last night on the highlights package and it was a great watch. Love watching the speed skaters. Power, pace, style, grace and that ultimate gift the top sportsmen/woman all have the ability to push themselves beyond what their body will let them... Love it...!! Keep posting Cyc my good man, it doesn't go un-noticed...:emoticon-0126-nerd::emoticon-0139-bow:

I keep trying to watch these videos you're posting Cyc but it says 'The uploader has not made this video available in your country'. I blame Brexit. Isn't that what we do now as Brits.

My Wife will chop your heed off, Rainer! <laugh> For myself, don't see anything peculiar or pornographic in the Biathlon (could you fire a gun accurately after skiing a few furlongs?), Curling, and Ice Hockey? You Crystal Palace south Londoners were always a bit weird. <laugh>

Congratulations to Lizzie Arnold on winning the Olympic Skeleton Gold for a second time, the bigger the occasion the better she is. A big well done to the placed girls Jacqueline Loelling of Germany, and of course to Laura Deas of GBR . <applause>

Heart must go out to Janine Flock of Austria who led going into the final run, but the occasion proved just too much for her and faded badly to finish only 4th overall.
