What a cliffhanger in the ladies downhill - absolutely bonkers the fine margins between Gold, Silver and Bronze (0.01 secs between each)
Not really in to Ice Dancing but this performance by Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot (Ukrainian and French by birth, but both German citizens) to win Gold was amazing and almost unreal. Incredible! Hope this clip works, could only find it in Deutsch, maybe there's an English commentary one on YouTube by now?
Just been watching reruns of the I've dancing medals. Lumpy Balding notices the US brother & sister winning bronze & asks Chris Dean who (if any) siblings have won medals before!? Only his ex-wife & brother-in-law, Lumpy! Any chance of getting your mouth fixed; you obviously didn't learn from the the last time? Numpty. Never mind, Elise Christie's up soon
The Ladies Short Track 3000m Relay A Final was a cracker. Hopefully you guys can find a YouTube replay.
When I lived in Canada I did not have a go at Curling, but did follow the firm's team in local tournaments, in fact I was at times the 'baggage man', although other times I was virtually alone in the office! So, I know just a little about the sport, and I wonder how in God's name the GB lads allowed a 5-stone 9th-ender to Switzerland in the tie-break game (winner to go into the last 4)? A 5-stoner?? Sorry, just cannot understand this. OK, got to watch a video replay yet, but good grief, surely one good 'bust-up' stone earlier-on would have stopped that 5-stone nonsense? However, better watch a video replay. Any forum Curling experts, please let me know where I have got this wrong, if I have. Thanks.
I've been looking for a replay Swanny but can't find one. There must have been a reason I suppose, did the commentators explain it all?
Cyc, have yet to see anything, BBC do not allow sports video replays outside of the UK. Can watch repeats and 'live' on BBC2 through my streaming service, but have to take pot-luck if I want to watch something specific. Yesterday, had to watch all of compulsory figure skating before they showed the GB lasses playing their game yesterday. A lot of 'live' stuff is in the wee small hours here, like yesterday's game with Switzerland, so that's out.
Wow, if you can get a look at the lady Choi from Korea in the ladies short track speed. In the Quarter finals she was amazing. Her team mate Shim also did well in the another Q final. The semis later today will sizzle.
And the sceptics said they wouldn't be able to skate world records on this indoor ice. That's two in an hour and a half and maybe another to come in a few minutes.
Absolutely brilliant Curling by Switzerland in the Bronze game against Canada. Leading 7-5 going into the 10th, they still had work to do. This 10th End proved to be a masterclass in how to play the game against, historically, the top country in the sport. Canada had the hammer in this last End, but Switzerland did not even allow them a final shot by their skipper. Outstanding take-out performance by the Swiss; of the highest class. GB Men's team, do hope you were watching! However, never mind, this has been a super Olympic Bonspiel regardless of the disappointment. In closing, cannot recall Canada going away empty-handed in an Olympic Curling tournament?
Never been interested in the Winter Olympics but have been watching this year. What they do on those skis and boards (or whatever they are called) is mind boggling. How on earth do they get from beginner to that level without breaking all their bones in the process? Also watching women's curling and GB doing well. Semi in 1 hour
Its amazing how curling has become more popular since it was re-introduced into the Olympics. I know a bit about it as some of my relatives were rather good at it
I'm sure you could have if you tried! There are just 2 events I have been waiting for - and because the listing and promoting of specific events is so random, I don't know if they have taken place or not. They are the ski cross and board cross contests. I'm pretty sure that there has been a women's board cross (which I missed) but dunno know about the others.
