Absolutely don't agree. This variant MAY be less likely to cause death, no one seems to know yet, but it certainly moves quicker with the potential for a huge peak in cases all at one time. The percentage needing hospital treatment may be lower but a slightly lower percentage against a vastly increased number of cases will fill the hospitals up.

Those effectively volunteering to catch Covid when this variant is so transmissible will be displacing those who didn't volunteer to get cancer, have a stroke of suffer a heart attack. If people decide to opt out of Covid prevention, then they should also be opted out of Covid treatment.

Stop me if I've said this before, but I read a piece in the Sunday paper by a doctor who had no choice but to treat a pregnant woman who was seriously ill having refused vaccination on the basis of some tin-foil helmet brigade lie about the dangers on the vaccine she'd read on FaceBook or whatever. As the doctor said, this idiot was letting the doctor administer an antibiotic so strong that its nickname among the medical profession is "Domestos" because her lungs had become so rancid they were physically sticking to her rib cage. She was also being given a painkiller 4 times more powerful than morphine and an anti-viral designed to kill human cells. Her unborn baby was getting the same but without having given its permission.. But take a safe vaccine? Not on her life and her baby's. Morons.

In the meantime, Premier League clubs should show an example and make vaccination a condition of employment. Any player being unfit due to Covid should have his mega-bucks pay stopped with the club having the option to terminate his contract without compensation.

We've got EPL players missing training because they swanned off to Barcelona to get a tattoo. We've got injured EPL players choosing to get treatment in Florida so they can post themselves lazing by the pool. Enough is enough.

Those getting admitted to Hospital are 90% un-vaccinated....yet they expect to get the full strength of the NHS to save their selfish lives.

If they refuse this incredible vaccine developed at fantastic cost....BUt expect the full strength of the NHS to save it....they should pay for the privilege....they should pay for the cost of producing the vaccine....they should pay for the cost of the NHS staff employed to risk their lives saving them.....and they should pay for the facilities that they are stopping genuine fully vaccinated patients in the queue from getting treatment whilst Doctors and Nurses deal with them.

Pregnant un-vaccinated women with Covid are quite happy to put their unborn babies through the horrors of powerful drugs that might change their unborn babies lives even before they are born into this world.
 
I also think clubs should be forced to play fixtures if they have the minimum number of players available.

Why should they get concessions when other clubs have kept their players healthy?
 
.....and while we're having a moan.....clubs who have three players involved in internationals can get the game postponed.....BUT if you only have two you have to play the match.

Big squads might not miss three players yet can get the game postponed.....but smaller squads might find two players missing a real handicap....uneven playing field.
 
So if you are in a car accident then you brought that on yourself because you drive? And yes it is the same thing so lets get rid of the NHS because pretty much everything is self inflicted if you go down that route so those involved should pay for it.

If you just treat Covid the same as everything else then there wouldn't be a million people isolating and therefore there woulddn't be such a shortage of staff in hospitals who currently are working on around 50% staffing levels. I'm not trying to pretend that Covid isn't serious but I am not convinced it is more serious than say Flu which itself can kill people. We are going to have to live with it at some point and we will develop a better tolerance to it as time goes on the same as with Flu. I am simply fed up with having what is left of my life taken away and not being allowed to do anything. If the Politicians had been firm and strong in the beginning instead of half hearted and indecisive and ignored their own rules as they felt like it then maybe I would be more sympathetic to their arguments now. I wasn't expecting agreement with the view.
 
Don't be daft Sensible, we have substantial immunity to flu built up over generations and an established programme of vaccination against a relatively stable disease.

Covid is new, mutating rapidly and we have no natural immunity. From a standing start, it's killed 5m people in 2 years.

What the politicians do has nothing to do with your duty to keep your family safe and others around you. It's also illogical to say "I think what they did was wrong so I'll do it as well".

But we will get immunity in time and it has to start somewhere such as even catching it so it isn't actually daft notdistant it is just an alternative view. I also said we are going to have to live with it at some point which is factual if not popular. It's also a bit presumptuous to assume I don't "do my duty" because I do even if I am beginning to question why. Don't worry though my son also thinks my thought process is flawed but if you are half my age then it is far easier to lock yourself away for a couple of years than it is if you are beginning to get to the end of what you have been allotted. Incidentally I don't know anyone personally who has died from this but it doesn't mean I don't believe some have.
 
Seems Steven Schumacher is keen on Bristol Rovers veteran defender Mark Hughes to join him as player/coach....obviously their paths have crossed in the past. He has played a lot at Div 1 level.
 
The FA have decided that 3rd and 4th round Cup matches will not go to replays.....instead there will be extra time and if necessary a penalty shoot-out if the game is a tie after 90 minutes.
 
Don't worry by then they will have closed everywhere down again and the season will be over. I wouldn't be that shocked if they do.
 
The experienced Keith Downing has joined the club as First Team Head Coach.

So are we still looking for an Assistant Manager as well ?

Will the Dec 29th game against Portsmouth be on......Pompey have had to postpone their last three League games because of Covid problems and add a few injuries they couldn't fulfil the FL's minium requirement of having 13 outfield players plus a keeper available.

Seeing that the 29th is nearly a week away you would think they would have players out of isolation by then to fulfil the FL's minium requirement.....could be a good time to play them.
 
Sorry but I'm just not buying all these match cancellations all of a sudden. Seems like every team and it's dog have suddenly been subjected to an epidemic of grand proportion. How many of them are just using this to get a break for their team because a load of others are and maybe will get their injured up and running before they play again. Just at the busiest time of year as well.
 
We've been told that 25% of players are not vaccinated,,,,and seeing that social distancing is rather difficult on the pitch.....of course at times you think that defenders are still maintaining social distancing by some results.

I dont disagree, but would much rather be playing matches than not- any advantage that those teams accrue through having a break will soon be lost when they are playing Sat-Tue-Sat for the rest of the season. Swings and roundabouts.
 
I would think that the size of a clubs playing squad could be taken into consideration regarding "wanting" to play a game or not.

Also the availability of a clubs star players.....if injured then a postponement might be advantages to a club to postpone that game till later.

Also clubs going through a poor spell of results might prefer to "put a game off" till later in the season.
 
Just read the... Chairman's Christmas Message... Excellent read and showing us how well run the club is....and that others have taken note.

Just the one blot regarding the nutters at the end of the Wigan game....which the club are sorting out with bans to those who have been recognized as the offenders.

The future looks promising with Chairman Hallett in charge....and may it continue so.
 
It seems that Steven Schumacher is still interested in bringing Mark Hughes to Home Park....but Hughes is half-way through a one year contract at Bristol Rovers and is still a valuable mentor to the club although he is out injured at the moment.....obviously an on going situation.
