A remarkable run, as I posted later, was his run of games for Bradford the season before his transfer to Derby and then his first 4 games for Derby which meant he had scored 50 goals in 50 league appearances.
That's not quite right. The six goals for BPA at the start of the 1966/67 season included 2 in the League Cup and four in the league.

Four league games at start of 1966/67 season - 4 goals
Forty six league games in 1965/66 season - 44 goals

So 48 league goals in 50 starts.

“ In season 1965–66, whilst playing for Bradford Park Avenue, he scored 44 league goals in a single 46-game league season plus 6 goals in the first 4 league games of the following season prior to his transfer to Derby” is what it says on his Wikipedia page. Are they mistaken? Either way, whether it was 48 or 50 in 50 league games is highly impressive, especially as 44 of them were for a not very good team.

Yes, Wikipedia is wrong. It very often is when it comes to football statistics and information.

Where did you get your info from? Agree Wikipedia often has incorrect stuff on. Mind you so do a lot of other sites. Music ones are another example.

Not too many players who would have a better goals scored/games played ratio than Clough himself - just under 1 goal per game played at 0.916+).

Haha you tempted me didn't you!

268 goals in 296 senior starts. Career effectively ended on Boxing Day 1962 at Bury (he returned for briefly 20 months later before retiring - the only 3 games he played in the top flight).

He had just scored 28 goals in 28 games for Sunderland, propelling them to second in the old Second Division.

Don't get me started on Arthur Rowley!

7th in the form table since Rosenior took over. If you take out the 2 brain farts against Sunderland and Blackpool it’d be even higher

That's really impressive when you throw in our lack of attacking options during the period. Oscar missed 3, Allahyar is only just back and Pelkas is now out

In both the birmingham and wigan games allahyar seemed very reluctant to run in behind and kept passing back. Even when greaves was running down the wing with the ball he didn't set off and just stood in space. He just doesn't look ready in my opinion. Great to see smith do so well. I felt this level was too high for him. As mr toast says, i hope he can kick on and prove me wrong over half a dozen games. Great to be part of the away following, i noticed lots of younger fans and acun has really given our club a lift. I'm sure we can push into the top ten and after that who knows.

Rosenior basically said it was a risk to play him, so if his hamstring already felt tight he was probably reluctant to run at full velocity in case what happened happened. Should just wait until he’s 100% better before we play him, especially with attacking reinforcements coming

Not sure you can get someone 100% fit without playing them. There's always increased risk of breaking down again after any player has been a long time out, even if the original injury is medically healed.
