Does appear to be a dodgy decision from a health and safety officer who is not impartial as the refs are<whistle>.

My view would be that they should start from where they finished off 63 mins still 3-1 and play until 90 up

Why on earth the losing team (whoever they are) should gain an advantage is farcical? assume it is a financial one.

Good to see that Rovers will gain some confidence for putting three past any side and only conceding 1 with a rubbish defence.

They knew it was time to abandon the game once Harrold had started doing the doggy paddle. :)

Just got back from Whycum - what a fooking farce! Yes the rain was bad, yes there was thunder & lightning during which they played on. The rain got better then 1 clap of loud overhead thunder and off they go. During the 10 mins that they were off there was maybe 2 - 3 more bits of thunder & lightning over the hill to our right in the distance - so no threat to the players. The pitch was playable as our subs were out there stroking the ball around! Now I learn it was WHY CUMs f+@king jumped up H & S officer that got it called off and not the Ref! He should hang his head in shame and the FA should take action. Four of us in a car, fuel, tickets etc well over a hundred quid and all because some twat from WHY CUM said so - a f@+king joke!
I AM NOT HAPPY!

here is the official statement from wickham.....

Wycombe’s npower League 2 fixture against Bristol Rovers on Saturday was abandoned after 65 minutes on health and safety grounds.

Flooding in and around the Adams Park stadium and a bolt of lightning which struck the Dreams Stand - where the Bristol Rovers fans were housed – left no other option but to cancel proceedings.

The proximity of electric pylons behind the stand were also a factor in the safety officer’s decision.

The club’s policy on ticketing arrangements is as follows:

- Supporters with a ticket stub can obtain EITHER a full refund or a ticket for the rearranged fixture by calling 01494 441118 and quoting the order number at the bottom of their ticket

- Supporters without a ticket stub were issued with a voucher including a unique code which they can quote when calling the ticket office to obtain a full refund or a ticket for the rearranged fixture

- Those supporters who left their contact details will be called on Tuesday

- As per the club charter, those supporters who didn’t retain any part of their ticket or leave their details, are not entitled to a refund or a ticket for the rearranged fixture

- No cash refunds were issued

A date for the rearranged fixture will be announced in due course. Please note that the club will be closed on Monday due to the bank holiday.

1st mistake in 1st paragraph. was playable pitch. during the time players were off the pitch, rovers subs were on the pitch warming up kicking the ball around fine. pitch was fine.

2nd mistake was about our 1st goal. clarkson ran with the ball not gill and brown scored not clarkson.

i stopped reading at that point.

having watched **** loads of wycombe away games i do feel sorry for the rovers fans who spent their hard earned money following their team today and if they want to watch the re scheduled game will have to muster up some more cash,i guess its the fans that are **** on again as always <sorry> from us genuine decent blues fans <ok>

rocky my friend, no need to say sorry. you done no wrong. weather is the issue. cant believe im saying that in august <doh>

i have seen comments on the OS forum saying if wickham were 3-1 then us gasheads would of been the ones laughing saying we got away with it.

i disagree with this as i am convinced that your safety officer would not have stopped the game if you were 3-1 up.

i cant believe that a wickham official was allowed to decide the fate of the game instead of an independant official.

i have read several accounts of those who went and they all said weather very bad but all said the lightening were miles away in the distance so the excuse used by the safety officer was poor. 20 mins after deciding to abandoning the game was sunshine and clear skies. 20 mins later the game could have easily restarted. thunder storms pass quick. if it was a floodlight failure then ref would of waited. in games been known to wait over an hour. how was waiting 10 mins for a thunder storm to pass enough time?? crazy. if lightening did strike twice as reported which rovers fans deny, why were the rovers fans forced to stay in the dangerous stand that had been apparently hit instead of being evacuated??
smells of cheating to me. like i said, no way would your safety officer stop the game if you were 3-1 up. this decision has made your club look quite bad. nothing against your fans though rocy, nothing you lot could have done <ok>

"gasheads" games are renowned for being called off at the minimal, don't worry Rocky, they are doing it all of the time, their ground is a swamp and I have not mentioned any teams beginning with "S" who were screwed.....<laugh><laugh>

this is from OS http://www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/wycombe-abandoned-334299.aspx?pageView=full#anchored

this alone shows what a biased decision it was for the following 4 reasons.

1) radio said no official came out to the pitch during that 10 min break. so they wouldnt of known if conditions improved or not but still made the decision.

2) lightening causing danger to the players? the safety officer wasnt worried about the subs and allowed them to stay out on the pitch! radio said rovers subs were warming up on the pitch during that 10 min break kicking the ball around. pitch was fine as ball being passed about without any issues.

3) lightening causing danger to the fans? it apparently hit the away end stand (which every gashead who went state no lightening hit it) yet the safety officer who abandoned the game wasnt worried about leaving the fans in the dangerous stand during the 10 min break and some time after it was announced its abandoned. abandoning the game meaning fans to leave would cause more danger as being out in the open is more dangerous than under cover in a thunder storm.

4) everyone knows thunder storms dont last long. it had actually stopped during that 10 min break. before that break the players were playing in the thunder storm. 20 mins after it was announced it was abandoned the sunshine came out and clear skies the radio reports and calls to the radio from fans after. floodlight failure been known to wait over an hour. just waiting an extra 10 mins wouldnt of hurt and game would of been finished instead of paying refunds and organising a replay and more travelling costs to the fans. waiting 10 mins for the storm to pass would of got rid of the danger that the safety officer thought there was and then no problem.

What a disgrace, surely the football league must take some action - I presume that the club will be lodging a formal complaint

I sincerely hope so - pitch was playable! I maybe would have understood it if the ref had taken the teams off when the weather was at its worst - but they played through it! When it got better they then left the pitch! At no time during or after the 10 mins did any offical come out on the pitch - it sucks! Nuff said! Sorry Jenny and other Why Cum fans - no disrespect to you supporters but this has left a very sour taste in my mouth!! (And wallet!) :steam::mad::emoticon-0101-sadsm:confused::steam:

I dont think there is any mileage in making any formal complaint against Wycombe's Health and Safety officer's decision. The guy made a decision which covered his ass should anything have gone amiss. Subsequently the ref and the managers were obliged to go along with that in our politically correct world. Although in my view I agree with others that the ref should have postponed the decision to abandon the game for a longer period of time. Had he done so, the view of the H&S officer would probably have been a different one.
Anyway its a done deal and on the positive side it may be just the trigger needed to galvanise the Gas side into a better team.
