ron, good comments. same as the poster abover your comment as well. i do hope our club complains to the football league as the decision to end the game just doent add up. but knowing our club, nothing will happen and just take it on the chin and end up feeling sorry for themselves and lose the rematch.

Just got back from a wedding, so knew nothing about this.

Firstly I can understand your disappointment Gasheads,I would be in this situation. But we live in a society where you deserve the right to return home from wherever you are. And I for one believe this is true working in construction seeing injuries and deaths greatly reduced due to these H&S rulings.

How do we know the H&S officer was a Wycome fan? He would of probably checked the forcast and could of been predicting that there was no improvement or it was moving closer. The weather is unpredictable at the best of times, British is up there as the worse.

They probably never came out to inspect because they were discussing with the ref and officials.

As I said I can fully understand you all being aggrieved but if he did make it legit ably then he was concerned for the safety of others. If not he ought to be out of work and never employed in the same capacity again.

rod, there was no danger or risk. if they had waited 10 more mins then there was just sunshine and game could have resumed!

i also presume anytime there is rain in wycombe during a home match for them then this H&S officer will show consistancy and abandon the game?? fat chance.

next time were losing at home our H&S officer should think of an excuse to get the game abandoned so we never lose at home ever again.

I'm not disputing what happened next CJS, just looking at it from a H&S perspective.

Hence why I ended it with a statement, that if he done it from anything other than H&S then he should be removed from the profession all together <ok>

not saying you are disputing it mate. im saying it wasnt anything to do with H&S as it just doesnt add up.

his reasons to abandon the game is due to thunder and ligthning being too dangerous for 1) the fans and 2) the players.

    1) the fans..... apparently lightning hit the away stand (it was the pylon then stand then pylon but story changed back to the hitting the stand again). if it was dangerous for the fans why were they then not evacuated? why were they kept in this unsafe stand? players taken off the pitch and fans still kept in the stand for the 10 mins break and when announced game abandoned they were still not evacuated from the stand. fans at the game said no lightning hit the stand. even wycombe fans admitted this. there was no risk to the fans at all. otherwise fans would have been removed from the risk to their H&S.

    2) the players..... the thunder/lightning started just before 2nd half started and continued until 67th min. 5 questions needs to be asked if there was a risk to those on the pitch. they are... 1) if there was a risk/danger to anyone on the pitch, why was the 2nd half allowed to start? 2) why was the 2nd half allowed to continue for 22 mins if the thunder/lightening was so unsafe? 3) if there was a risk/danger to anyone on the pitch, why was the groundsman allowed to go on the pitch with a metal fork during the 10 min break? 4) if there was a risk/danger to anyone on the pitch, why was the subs allowed to stay on the pitch during the 10 min break? 5) if there was a risk/danger to anyone on the pitch, why was the rovers manager and players allowed to return to the pitch and clap the fans for their support?

doesnt sound good does it from a H&S view?

i hope all that happened yesterday doesn't cause hassle between both sets of fans.personally i think the ref should have taken the players off for half an hour and if the weather improved which it did then let the game continue,to me it was his error in the first place.

H&S only works when people buy into it, if what your saying did happen then this officer needs to be stripped of his responsibility.

Anyway off now need to do some risk assessments for a task with Mrs Redordead ;)

every club he has played for ends up getting relegated. apart from gills last season. he cost them promotion instead. dont get me wrong, on his day he is a good player, someone who i be happy with at rovers. but his day doesnt come often. said the same thing to gills fans last season but they didnt listen as he started off very brightly scoring for fun on loan then they signed him and he didnt do a lot after and the gills fans ended up saying the same thing as us. then he got released in the summer. he performs great to start with. but then once he gets a contract he no longer bothers unless he feels up for it. he is fast but very greedy. would rather try and go past 3 players and doing that the hard way than play a simple pass to someone who is free and would have an easy chance. when he hasnt got the ball he is very lazy. you wont see him defend or get back at any time and going forward dont expect a lot of movement. he just stands there and jogs about wanting the ball at his feet and easily gets pushed off the ball. you will find he performs well for you to start with away from home. you wont see much at home as im sure your home games will keep getting abandoned when it rains ;)

Yeah he was a decent player to be honest was Joe...He just didn't always put in the effort and contributed to our relegation (as he has done with every club he has been with <laugh>). He is either a very unlucky man, or there is a reason for it...you decide <whistle>
