Leicester and Southampton target offered improved contract to fend off interest
Leicester City and Southampton target Connor Wickham has been offered another new improved contract by Sunderland, according to the Daily Star.
Wickham has already rejected one contract offer from Sunderland who are desperate to keep hold of last seasons savour whose goals ensured the Black Cats would be playing Premier League football next season. Leicester City and Southampton are said the be monitoring the situation.
The 21-year old former Ipswich Town man has just one year remaining on his current deal and should he continue to reject Sunderland’s attempts to retain his services the club may be forced into selling their star striker in order to prevent him from leaving on a free next summer.
Previous reports had stated the Foxes were readying a £5 million bid for the former Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United loanee but at this point it is unknown whether that would be enough to tempt Sunderland into cashing in on Wickham.
