Had you posted this thread 10 seasons ago, I'd agree with you, Yidarmy28. Back then, our expectations were confined to having a good cup run and finishing in the top half of the table. However, our expectations have been raised since the days of Jol, to the point where anything less than a top 5 finish is viewed as disappointing.
The team we have is very exciting, and AVB is probably good enough to ensure that we finish comfortably in the top half of the table, but is that going to be enough? I seriously doubt it.
Without at least two more established strikers we are going to be severely handicapped over the course of the entire season. Yes, we may buy in the January window, but that would more than likely be forced upon Levy by us having a dismal first half of the season!
It is unrealistic to believe that we can compete for a top 5 place with only Defoe and the untried Kane as our strike-force.
