MON is one of the few I regard as a step up from SB. He's done it at a higher level for longer, simple as that.

Bruce could still turn out to be a top class manager, but I remain unconvinced at the minute.

thats funny, i agree with you on the players out, but most on here dont even consider that for Bruce, they just look at his spend and say short has spent a fortune lol

anyway not going to do this by year.

Leicester:

players out 25 revenue 7 million
Players in 35 expenditure 32 million
The year after which may be telling
out 16, 23 million
in 17, 10 million

Celtic not counting 99-00 season
out 72 revenue 13 million
in 65 expenditure 47 million
year after he left
out 18 1.3 million
in 18 11 miilion

Villa

players out 29 revenue 39 million
Players in 30 expenditure 120 million (Was 20million out before sorry)
The year after which may be telling
out 22, 25 million
in 18, 33 million (this should include bent as well)

so in his time as manager he has

out 126 revenue 59 million
in 140 expenditure 199 million

hope all that makes sense cant do html tables on here to make it look neat and tidy

Well done Steve, great bit of research. It seems we both agree that income from the sale of players has to be included in the final tally, otherwise it just gives a false impression of how much money owners are pumping into clubs.

I took a look at the total spending that you listed for each club and divided those figures by the number of seasons he was in charge. Apart from Villa, the sums were really quite modest....

Leicester - £5m per season
Celtic - £6.8m per season
Villa - £35m per season

I wonder what SB's season average is? I think it will be quite low after all of the sold players monies are taken into account.

Well the thing i noticed with MON is, in his first season at leicester/Celtic he spent a lot, then the next seasons he didnt spend much at all, but thats because he already had the players from the 1st seasons spend

Celtic = 27.5 million in his first season
Leicester = 5.2 then 8.3 in the next season.

But whether thats just the owners not giving him any more cash or not, i am not sure lol

Bruce
Birmingham = 6 seasons 2001-2007

players out 135 revenue 39 million
Players in 138 expenditure 66 million (that suprised me)

Wigan 2 seasons

out 47 revenue 36 million
in 48 expenditure 36 million (made a loss of 66,000 1st season profit of 88,000 2nd season)

Sunderland 2 seasons

out 60 revenue 55 million
in 49 expenditure 65 million.
