If a lad from 'Ull can drop 'is aitches, surely a Yank can drop 'is "a"s ?Except Neil Armstrong didn't say that. He said ""That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
Which is tautology. To be fair he had a lot in his mind at the moment.

Most who heard the live transmission knew full well what he meant. Not if it makes what he is saying meaningless.

Unless they were obsessive compulsives.
People will complain about anything.!!Still wasn't what he intended. Even Americans noticed.
You're exposing yourself to the spelling police therePeople will complain about anything.!!
I'm sure Americans would not be able to make head nor tale of the Hull lingo!

I am eagerly awaiting the next series of Spiral.
She (and presumably the director) allowed the "people" to speak. It was a 1/2 hour documentary.
No need for more to be said. M.P.'s agenda is/was not hidden. A strange observation ?
I don't believe I'm disagreeing with anything you're saying here CM, except for perhaps your stance on the "dramatic purposes" of the production team's intentions. In my view, the combination of the 2 programs highlighted the struggle of a few against the injustices/self-interest of those in control. Those struggles eventually led to improvements - not instantly, but eventually. The backlash against the initial driver of the campaign was very unfortunate and highlighted the fear felt by those at the bottom of the food chain. The documentaries should have perhaps put more emphasis on that aspect as you say, but to suggest it was poetic license by the production team I believe is far from the truth. More likely poor analysis on their part ? Perhaps that's what you were saying ?Not all "the people".
Granted the M.P. thing had LB's name in the title, but in the whole of the two progs (90 mins) we got virtually zilch of Mary Denness and Christine Jensen. What roles did they play? We got plenty of Yvonne Blenkinsop's view of it all.
Quite a few people seem to want to use the events of 1967 to slant things in a way that suits their dramatic purposes.
I wonder what LB would have made of the big mural on Anlaby Road, the play, the books etc?
Bet she wishes she'd had more support in the 70s and 80s when she needed it.
One of the sad things is how very few people came out of it well: local community disowning her, local politicians doing nowt still she got involved, trawler owners looking the other way, skippers and crews not collectively demanding better.
You'd be better off getting the box set of Wallander or the Bridge.

Seen them all. Spiral is as good as the Bridge in a lot of ways, though, of course, the main character in the Bridge takes some beating.
Presume you are referring to the Krister Henrikson one not the Kenneth Branagh one. Though the films with Rolf Losgaard were good as well.
Branagh made an utter **** of himself trying to do Wallander. Yes Krister is the Guvnor.
Spiral/Engrenages is my favourite crime drama bar none. Superb. Although I didn't like Laure and Gilou getting together in the last series. Somewhere I have selfie of me and Gilou ...I am eagerly awaiting the next series of Spiral.
Absolutely. The English version was pointless and ponderous. Viewers accept subtitles now.Agreed.
