If everyone is fed up with the overpaid, overated side we have now then lets look to the future. There are a number of young players that have done very well in the Premier League this year that have all come through the U21 team under the stewardship of Stuart Pearce.

They have been relatively succesfull in the European Championships, no less than the senior team anyway. I would suggest installing Stuart Pearce as the England manager with the remit of blooding more of his U21 squad into the senior team. I am looking at the impact of this for Germany in the last World Cup when they promoted a number of the U21 team. Pearce has also been around the senior set up for a number of years so know's how that works. I think we should progress the U21 team and manager up into the senior team, focussing primarily on the next world cup reather than these Euro's. You never know without the pressure they may actually perform better than we expect.

There is also an option of bringing someone else in with Pearce to assist on a part time basis with tactics etc. The other thing that is important, you know Pearce would not be on a mega bucks salary, he would be there for England. Just think back to the image when he scored that penalty against Spain in Euro 1996. Fist clenched face contorted with passion and pride. Now I would like that passion installed back into our England team from the manager down.
