Tee Hee ! I thought you lot pronounced it Sarfampton.........

I distinctly recall the raucous chant in the televised F A Cup Final against Arsenal back in 2003 of:-

:emoticon-0159-musicWE ARE SARFAMPTON THE PRIDE OF THE SARF,
NOT LIKE THOSE BATHTUBS (?) WHO COME FROM PORTSMARF ! :emoticon-0159-music

Until this day, I still don't understand why you were referring to us as "Bathtubs".........<confused>

Nice one Wd :emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0102-bigsm
Funny as :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Actually, FFD hits the nail on the head about our situation. Regardless of how long ago the history, it is a fact that every club that has won the English league championship still exists and there is only one FA Cup winner from the professional era that has disapeared (the first - Blackburn Olympic) and that was when Victoria was still on the throne.

By the way, I don't hate Southampton (city or club) but do believe it inferior to Pompey - something to do with the nouveau riche still not really cutting it against the jaded aristocracy!

You Portsmouth lot have a fatal shortcoming. You spend most of your lives looking backwards & miss the express train coming staight at you
Always remember, you can only live in the here & now.

If I remember correctly, if current trends of global warming continue, then it is predicted that sea levels will rise by 10 meters by 2050 (I think). Maybe that's what woopert meant.

I ruddy hope its not going to rise by 10m by 2050 otherwise the scientific community have got it very wrong and we will be much wetter! As a geography student and one currently revising for a sea-level exam I feel i have to correct you...even if you were just going off memory and just sticking up for one of your own. The most recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report (the fourth assessment report, 2007) predicts a global sea-level rise ranging from 0.18m - 0.59m by the year 2100 (depending on different emissions scenarios), now although the report and its predictions are surprisingly poor only predicting a global mean sea level (which is useless in itself) and only in a simplistic manor,... other research point to a similar-ish figure. The highest figure I have read is 2m and the lowest 0.8m by 2100. So although Pompey seem to be sinking fast without a trace, I wouldn't go and panic buy a dingy just yet Lapras ;)

Meh, I've always been more of a human than a physical geographer! Think I may have meant 10cm rather than 10m (though I'm not sure even 10m would be enough to make Reading a coastal city). But thanks for those corrections, either way it's definitely something that the global community should unite to mitigate. Good luck in your exam!

Up until Uni I always considered myself a bit of an inbetweeny...I liked both physical and human. But since Uni I hate most of human and do all physical modules (too much politics, planning, paradigms etc for my liking). But anyway, thanks!! I wish it was just one exam but I have 4 and one of them is 3 hours on 1 question :emoticon-0120-doh:....it always bemuses me that they make you do such long exams and yet its proven that you can only concentrate for 45 mins at a time (or something along those lines). I agree that we should try to reduce emissions etc., but i can't see it happening on the scale it needs to with the size of the ever growing population and in any case while I cannot disagree that 'globalisation' etc must have had an affect on the climate it remains to be seen whether the observed acceleration in climate change since the industrial revolution is anything more than short term variability from the long term trend. Sorry getting a bit deep and off topic...whatever the original topic was

Just another case of a bloke being a bit over-optimistic with a measurement. If there are any female posters on the Pompey board, I am sure this will ring a bell somewhere.;)

You're wasting energy which you need to go along, that's GO ALONG to your ground and support your team. That's SUPPORT your team rather than bleat like sheep.

Morning blue rinse
What's your gut feeling on today's game , do you think you will get through today with your Championship place in tact for another week and then who knows.
Or is it back to the lower leagues for Pompey. I suppose if your in league 1 next season then you could save on wages and only open two parts of the ground.

what like your sh-it club did possum?, no we will be back in the championship to meet you and beat the krap out of you when you are relegated again!<laugh>

I have many votes for me actually Channon, although I have heard my chances are considered slim by CyprusSid to become a Scummers moderator!<laugh>
