i can only speak for myself but i have to say i have no real problem with coventry. actually had quite a good day in the casino this year too!

I think 'hate' is an expression used too freely when it comes to rival sets of football fans.

Yes, there is a fierce rivalry between Portsmouth and Southampton, as one would expect with two cities being so close together.

Every football team's following inevitably includes a minority hell-bent on stirring animosity and it is the actions this minority that overshadows the majority who enjoy decent, competitive, but friendly banter.

Whatever Channon- who gives a stuff when it happened -it just did. There was life before Channon ?? That's one of the main fears of liquidation- our history would die with the club, and it's a proud history that no one- not even you, can belittle.

When you have no future it becomes very easy to look back at the past
cant blame Pompey for that

Actually, FFD hits the nail on the head about our situation. Regardless of how long ago the history, it is a fact that every club that has won the English league championship still exists and there is only one FA Cup winner from the professional era that has disapeared (the first - Blackburn Olympic) and that was when Victoria was still on the throne.

By the way, I don't hate Southampton (city or club) but do believe it inferior to Pompey - something to do with the nouveau riche still not really cutting it against the jaded aristocracy!

Well, if we want to go back a bit, I would have to say that the proud city of Southampton is mentioned in the Domesday book as being a large settlement of 185 households, wheras Portsmouth does not even get a mention!

I know this was a bit before I was born, but Mr Funkdaddy says it's ok. <laugh>
