Shows you how thick this guy is....saying we will be lucky to survive relegation, then puts us 12th in his predictions.....has memory like Dori!!!
Didn't he comment on everyone else making signings. Cardiuff have broken their transfer record, Benteke has signed a new contract at Villa, CHelsea are favourites for the title as they've signed players, but Sunderland have obviously signed nobody and are going down because we were crap last season?? By this reckoning Michael, the league table should be exactly the same as last season as all that matters is how well we played last season!!
Exactly, the blokes a nob! I really hope we prove all the doubters wrong next season and have the best Premiership season we've ever had. If we can sign Cissoko, a creative mid and stay relatively injury free, I dont see why not!
Those elusive final bits of the jigsaw! Come on de fanti & co get the biz done! Oh and Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
Absolutely - only 3 sleeps (as my son keeps saying!) Can;t bloody wait. I looked at an article today regarding forwards and we have Fletcher getting close to fitness, Altidore, Ji, Wickham and Mandron with Sessegnon playing the "false number 9" role - maybe we are well stocked for strikers - need a left back (Cissokho seems back on the table) and someone to partner Cabral in CM - that's what paolo has apparently said too so let's get it done. Looking forward to the start of the season.
Getting butterflies thinking about saturday, spoke to the lads arranging our meet up times last night, bloody magic! Pdc said he wanted 3/4 in before sat, 1 down, 2/3 to go
Canny read - I just don't like seeing or hearing people say that "Wigan kept Sunderland up" - Sunderland kept Sunderland up - Wigan's loss to Arsenal guarenteed our survival but a season is 38 games long not 1 - we were the 17th best side in the league over the entire season end of!! I also dislike the opening statement about Di Canio's political views! No other manager in the league would have an article started like that - even after Di Canio has said he has no political views. Other than thos 2 - it's a good read!!
IMHO we seriously underperformed last season and we had too many square pegs in round holes and we did not have enough square pegs anyhow. In the final game of the season up until the young academy lad came on to make his debut (we had no seasoned professionals on the bench) Bale had been kept quiet..we scored 3 against the horse-punchers and got walloped of Villa. This season I expect to start out with a full deck of a squad, atm we need a left back, creative midfielder and I believe another striker. If we can get off to a winning start and get some momentum, we could do a Norwich and OK by Christmas. I personally like the balance of JoS and Brown, seasoned professionals at the heart of defence and some young fast legs in the rest of the outfield. The Outlaw Josie needs to score quickly like Fletcher did and not do a Graham One of the interesting facets of the coming season, which most pundits are picking up on, is how PDC handles his own volatility/passion and how it inspires or brings the team down, Short and Bryne may have apart to play in controlling PDC.
I'm sick of how tv companies take pundits on based on the fact that they played for England and were high profile as players. They don't seem to take into account charisma and watchability. There are plenty of players that have a bit of character about them, are intelligent(ish) and have playing pedigree...................and they pick Owen and Shearer. By the way, Neville, Seedorf, Leonardo and our own Mickey Gray are examples of good pundits, by the way.
I seem to think that the press are concentrating on PDC's style of management too much. He's passionate and that is a good thing. It didn't stop Alex Ferguson from winning the premiership umpteen times.
I quite admire Owen actually. He managed to get a hundred grand a week of the DRGB's and build himself a set of stables for his racehorses with that money. The nags conveniently overlook the fact that Shearer actually got him there in the first place as they do the fact that he wanted £2 million to manage them in the chsip (he loves the club though). Bit o/t but it's up there with the fact they nearly all wanted Robson sacked but have totally re written it as if they all adored him.
