If we sign Maguire we may as well leave him @ Sheffield Utd on loan or loan him to a championship club. No way is Maguire ready for the PL just yet. imo.

Plus with Bruce McShane and Chester all having periods out injured last season having 6 centre backs is not an issue at all.

A few Blunts at work reckon he's not got bags of pace but he makes up for it with his skill with the ball, plus he's a big unit. We'll probably buy him and loan him back for the season to reduce the final price.

This ^^^^^ he's excellent with the ball and reads the game brilliantly for a kid of his age. Regardless of our CB needs, £2million is a good investment.

Nothing wrong with Bruce, he was contender for MOM in the FA Cup final before going off injured.

Maguire is a good prospect, like an earlier post, it takes a good centre half to spot a good centre half. Bruce hasn't got a bad record at signing defenders (out of form Figueroa the exception, maybe)

Defender Curtis Davies is set to meet Hull City officials at the end of the month to discuss a contract extension.

The 29-year-old enjoyed an outstanding campaign after joining from Birmingham on a three-year deal last summer.

Davies was named captain by manager Steve Bruce and led Hull to the first FA Cup final in their history, scoring in the 3-2 defeat by Arsenal.

The former Aston Villa man is open to the idea of staying with Hull ahead of their foray into the Europa League.

However, there is also a recognition that Davies, who swept the board at the club's player of the year awards, is a man in demand.

A number of Hull's Premier League rivals have suggested they would be interested in signing the Londoner and improved terms are certain to form part of the discussions between club and player, who is now worth considerably more than the £2.25m it cost to sign him 12 months ago.

Rule out Curtis leaving. For now, anyways.

SB might be showing a certain preference for playing 3-5-2 for the majority of next season, in which case then 5-6 CB's are required to cover our league, cup and the additional European fixture schedule.

I really hope not. I'm sure I read a stat somewhere suggesting we won more games playing 442 than 352. Its far too slow for this league.

I think Maguire could be a non story, we're just another teams name being thrown in there.

Depending on how we do in Europe plus the domestic cups then as SB as said we need a big squad, hopefully we will do well but if so there is going to be loads of extra games

So our first team line up next season could be:

-----------------McGregor----------

Rosenior ----Davies ------Chester------Lescott

Elmo -------Thudd ------- Amalfitano ---- Ince

--------------Long ----------Jelavic -------

Subs: Jakupovic, Maguire, Aluko, Sagbo, Brady, Figueroa, Boyd.

What no Livermore...? Get that glass half filled!

Im guessing its because Faye has moved on and we'll be looking to sell McShane or Bruce.. Lescott & Maguire would be excellent additions at CB. Lescott for obvious reasons, experience, leadership, ability... And the young Maguire is one for the future.

I know it's sounds obvious, but the business the club does over the next 2 months will define next season.

Remembering our signings during the July-Aug period in 2009 (just prior to our second season in the PL) we bought 2 Stoke rejects
in Sonko and Olafinjana. Terrible signings.

Fingers crossed our new players this time (before another second season in PL) will be of much better quality.

By Jan 1st we could have played = 19 PL games, 10 europa league games and hopefully 3/4 coc games.

Who is this Bruce McShane guy? His name sounds Australian.
