I've had a little look at his previous, 37 in 105 injury dogged apps for Hoffenheim isn't shabby, but half of them were in Bundesliga 2. He also failed another medical in his career, blowing a move to Stuttgart. Is he an injury time-bomb?

To be fair to you lenny, I shouldn't have used Elmander as a comparison...there again, anymore than you quoting only English player prices for a 20m forward! <laugh>

Errr...so you want to think that the only reason that anyone could disagree with you is because they've not read your post?

So I've misunderstood you? You don't specifically want to sign players who are quite good but not all that good? Because a very good player would not want to be second fiddle to Adebayor?

So how about responding to my point (which was specifically addressing your post, thereby giving away the fact that I HAD read it) that there is no point buying a player who will not be good enough when we need them?

I mean - am I going mad? Would Man Utd or Chelsea buy Zamora?

What's the point of having players as cover if they're in their mid-twenties and not really good enough to be in/compete against the top teams?

Gallas, Corluka, Dawson, Sandro, Krancjar, Huddlestone, Defoe - THIS is the quality a top team needs as back-up. Not just players we all know are not really good enough.

Yes I used Jenas as an example of how "having bucket-loads of Premiership experience" is no great thing necessarily. So what? You his dad?

I don't think Jenas is a very good player. So what? I don't think my shot was cheap.

I know you hate the idea of people having different opinions to yourself but really you've got to wonder if a forum is really the best place for you to hang out. And good luck enhancing your intelligence, ideas and experience of the world whilst only ever wanting to hear people agree with you. Really good luck with that.

Haha! Yep - lies, damned lies and all that. Hadn't actually noticed that I'd only used English examples. For the record I always thought Elmander looked ponderous and unthreatening. It's why when I heard Stuart Hall say that quote I instantly committed it (badly) to memory.

Yeah - I could well be wrong about Ba. TBH I was just wondering why more people haven't been mentioning him as a target for Spurs.

I read on Wikipedia (ahem) that there's speculation that his fasting during Ramadan doesn't help with his early-season form. Not ideal.
 
The period of Ramadan changes every year lenny, gets earlier by a few weeks I think, and is a massive problem for any athlete to keep fit during this. Refusal of solids and fluids through daylight hours is just impossible, the body benefits from nourishment immediately after exercise, I mean just basic fluid replacement is essential. I wonder if his injuries are anything to do with that?
 
Ramadan moves forward by about 20 days every year, I believe, so pretty much what you've said, Notso.
Not sure that's Ba's problem though, as he's failed at least two medicals in his career, already.
Stuttgart turned him down and so did Stoke.
With our record in these matters, would it be worth the risk?
 
I think you'll see a different Ba after the ACON, he'll be knackered with quick succession games in heat. How many times have we seen PL scoring runs ended by one reason and another, not to be regained for some time. He needs to pass this test before anyones thinks about paying money for him imo.
 
Apparently according to some media outlets Drogba might be available, says Chelsea & AVB have changed their stance on him waiting till his contract runs out.
Worth a try in my book, you never know.
