March 25, 1992 and Thomas is playing centre mid for an England team that would beat France 2-0. It should have been a joyous occassion for all, but for Thomas it would become a career defining moment for all the wrong reasons.

Played through, with 40 yards of clear space and only the keeper to beat, Thomas tried to be clever. He tried to beat the keeper from fully 25 yards, but succeeded only in slicing the ball hopelessly, sending it 35 yards wide.

Thomas' career would never recover from that miss, as the big move failed to materialise and instead he remained among the also-rans of English football.*

Never missed once
 
Jerome because he didnt even have to move, no work was required, no bobble, it'd actually be harder to miss from 2 yards out, and he still scuffs it
