Hi Simon. I think the red kit is to do with the almost unique situation that Cardiff is in. Being a capitol city of a tiny nation has huge potential for branding, and at some point, protest or not, until we can prove that an alternative marketing strategy is better than his, we have to trust VT. There seems to be a perception that we are not shouting loud enough about what is happening here. This is not due to lack of passion or of feeling victims, many down here will see all of this as part of a series of positive changes that club has embarked on. Sorry that you don't like us, especially when there is more that links our two clubs than divides us, but I respect your right to feel how you do. I hope you have a good summer and come back refreshed for the new season.
At least you can wear blue when you come to Ashton Gate. I think most football fans are a bit uncomfortable with the Malaysians doing this - feels like they are running roughshod over tradition etc just for money They need to remember that they may own the club, but it BELONGS to the fans
Hi fella. I think it's part of a football fan's make up to struggle with radical change, but I think we have a responsibility as the major stakeholders in our respective clubs, to protect the existence of the club and move it forward for the benefit of future generations, who will probably giggle at the fact that we once played in blue. While you're here, congratulations on a good end to the season. For a few weeks I thought we were going to lose another local rival. I hope you can go from strength to strength now and that we can look forward to some good derby encounters.
I agree. Apart from I havent a clue why they think they will make money out of a change to red. Home shirt sales and red merchandise sales are going to be poor. The only positive I can think of are Jacks walking around with Dragon tatoos. One minute its a dragon next its a Cardiff badge.
Sean Dyche: 11th after one season, having had the best attacking players sold and only being allowed to re-invest a sixth of the transfer money. Malky Mackay: 16th and 14th in two seasons, with most of his best players (notably Don Cowie, Danny Graham and Tom Cleverley) handed to him on a plate by Boothroyd, Rodgers, and his dad's friendship with some bloke called Alex. Dave Jones: Two consecutive fourth placed finishes, very unlucky not to go up in 2010. Malky Mackay: A sixth placed finish, and a hammering in the playoffs.
Simon, I think everyone here knows it was poorly presented but it was leaked out by someone who was emotionally involved (a fan) and did not like what they heard. Thy put their version of events out into the public domain before the club had a chance to discuss details. I'm not a marketing man but VT employs marketing people in his other business ventures, so in this instance we have to bow to their greater knowledge of the Asian market. All in all the re-branding is a step in the right direction albeit a controversial step.
Are Cardiff about to move stadium as well? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-18352786 Would make sense - If the Malaysians are that keen on developing the club into a world wide brand, surely they would need to move out of the little Welsh Village to prosper? Drop the "Cardiff" name in the process and London will have a new team - The Battersea Dragons
Can we add to that Dyche would have had a wage budget less than half of Malky's given £8m more losses and Cardiff having roughly twice the attendance of Watford?
can i add you know **** all about cardiff city by the looks of it? like jones had chopra, bothroyd, bellamy, even ramsey for a month, by far the best squad in the league and left us with just 10 senior players when mackay took over?
renting training facilities, servicing historic debts with exorbitant interest rates, on top of the usual running costs.
