I think that's because when people are fired up about the football and on here to talk about it they're more interested in the off topic stuff too.
And following the 4th or 5th worst season in my lifetime (86/87, 15 and 19 pointers - can't think of any others so probably the 4th worst!) there's not much footy to be debated

@Bri I know little about Mick except for what I've "seen" (relative term) of him on here! Used to love this board and I still think, as a forum, it's one of the best setups - just a pity that it's not being maintained much by the guy who's supposed to be running it

As you've asked Billy, these are my genuine feelings.

Many people, including myself, lost a great deal of interest when almost every thread was taken over by the same little bunch of people with the same quite narrow agenda. Not everyone wants this so-called 'bunch of nutters' throwing the same matey insults backwards and forwards and wanting to share their 'shagging & drinking stories'.
It may be hilarious and 'zany' for the people involved but it's cringingly boring for everyone else, especially new posters coming on.

If there's an 'in crowd' and you're not part of it then it's easier to walk away than try to break into the obvious clique.

There are people like myself who are just normal family people with a range of interests that isn't restricted to getting pissed and going out on the pull.
I've noticed that it's these lads who have drifted off and post very little. I've posted many a serious or humerous thread, that's been swamped, sometimes deliberately in my opinion, because it didn't fit the agenda of 'we're all crazy nutters here and the Mods can't cope with us'.

If it didn't interest them then why not just ignore it and let other people enjoy it?

Inviting 'outsiders' like GC & Mags may seem like a good idea but they have no vested interest in this board so put very little effort in.
When they latch onto a few people on here, and join forces, then it becomes obvious to people like me that it's pointless bothering to post. I know there's a theory that it's these 'we're all crazy' threads that keep the board going but, imo, they've killed the board. Now that there are only a few regular posters they just keep trotting out the same 'stories & jokes' that everyone's heard a thousand times and the threads go nowhere ...... not being rude mate but it's boring.

To be perfectly honest the claims that there were all kinds of crazy threads just baffle me, what was so crazy about them and why were they so funny?

Not trying to be funny here mate but the OT threads to me were made by people with **** all else in life, their life revolved around this forum..

I am guilty of doing it but my life is 24/7 elsewhere, not my choice but my deck of cards..

I miss the looney, crazy people too but in the real world, not here..<ok>

I agree with that to a great extent Joe.

TBH, how many of the posts were really that crazy ....
..... talking about which women people fancy, boasting about how many pints they've swallowed or trotting out their prejudices.

That's not really too crazy is it, just what 16 year old lads do tbh.

Good post Smug.
I look at it as a kind of cyber pub.
I come on for a bit craic, banter & a laugh. Just like I do when I go to the real pub.
While there we talk about many things, not just football.
I often find the OT threads the most interesting tbh with you.
I don't think there's particularly anyone on here that I dislike.
Get on better with some more than others, just like down the pub.

I'm just a normal bloke mate. Two kids, daughter 22 & son 15.
Full time job looking after my mum who has severe arthritis.
I look after her because I'm not having her in a home.
She's wiped my arse plenty times when I was a kid.
I struggle with it at times & need release.
Two pints down the bar on an afternoon & the odd evening spent with my good friend Jerry does me.
I'm a simple bloke marra. Never been extravagant or materialistic.
Reet, off to do the ironing now. Sorry for bleating on.

No problem with that Billy, just how normal people carry on.

But, surely, if you see a group of people in conversation in the corner of the pub you'd leave them to it.

What's happened, on here, time after time is that people have been interrupted and called boring for discussing their subject of choice.

That's created an uneasy atmosphere whereby the quieter people just drift off and find somewhere quieter.

Yes I understand that.
Some folk like me are more open than others are.
No problem with that.
Got all the ironing done btw, lol.

Look at some of the replies on this thread. Thats why its dead.

They complain but offer **** all.

What people offer may not be to your taste but it's what they choose to post, that's what people offer.

If it's criticised enough people will stop posting which is what's happened.

We can't all have the board as a total reflection of our individual tastes ...... surely it's better to have a wide variety of threads.

She will win..

But she is the most pathetic leader the blues have had..

Have a read of this, this guy sums her up brilliantly..

Sorry Joe but I always have a laugh when i read comments about the billionaire press owners who manipulate the public the way they want them to vote they didn't to well when Blair was in in power for a zillion years or did somebody else own them then, I believe people are well capable of making their own minds up.<ok>

I'm a member of the labour party who does not want Corbyn as leader. However I have to say he has performed way above my expectations in this campaign, and I do love a lot of the ideas in the manifesto. Abbott on the other hand has been an utter liability and I wish that someone would lock her away until after the election..
Most of my mates around here seem to be going for Labour but the Lib dems usually get in but a lot of people have gone off Timmy the Twat.

This board has its ups and downs and there has been some mega fall outs over the years. However, it is a place that I'm always drawn to as we have some cracking characters. even if a lot of the time some of them drive me to despair..

Totally agree with this, when I first joined in the beginning 2010, it was the Celtic lads that joined Mick as a banter point due to the moderation of the old 606. The Rangers and Aberdeen lads followed but it was always run like a GC board, anything goes, keep it sweet but keep it interesting. When the 606 was announced to be closes, Mick saw the deal and went for it, there was a massive influx of posters, I think he went through 3 new servers in the first 6 months. I hit the site to Syd Hutch as I thought our lot would head over and they did, the site had zero moderation so Mick quickly wanted to bring in a senior mod for all the site, had a bit of dialogue with Syd and the rest is history..

I think the reason the site is bellowing now is simply because people have met on here in the real world, people have overdone the group hugs and statements ( hence why I pulled my post on the 'Depression' thread the other night @Safc83,) I should never have done that public, my family affairs should stay between us.

There's some good lads on here but too many easily offended, I wouldn't think twice of walking in the Paradise, seeing you mugs and saying 'Now then, you bunch of ugly ****ers', saying it on here seems to be a blue touch paper for what ever reason.

Keep it simple on here is my suggestion and I will be doing it, there's PM for the other stuff but people want simplicity when they login to chill after a few beers. I have been a culprit of the heavy stuff but no more..

Still a great board and sound lads, a different variety but all connected in our great club..<ok>

I spoke to you over 6 months ago just as my seperation with my ex was starting and my life drastically changed and ive heard feck all off you since? You then decide to comment about my situation on here on MY thread, why not drop me a text to see how I am? What a hypocritical twat!

Youll have seen that I bought a new house on that thread aswell. Ive settled in nicely, thanks for asking.

I put far too much on here about my personal life sometimes but as ive said its a good way to let off steam because in the real world i feel weak if i expose my feelings.

You ok mucka?

Could be alot better pal but i could also be alot worse so im not gona complain, least of all on here.
We have too many outsiders poking their noses on here now w@nking over peoples downfalls.

Aye.

Ya one of the last of good guys on here mate. Not many of you left.

Seems everyone complaining does very little of this.

TBH, there's a question of quality and quantity.

Posting endless threads about 'what's your favourite toothpaste/soft drink/footwear/phone/car inevitably destroys a board because it swamps the place with drivel. At the end of the day, who really cares who fancies whatever latest tart in the news or prefers this lager over that?

People have stopped posting a variety of threads because they always end up exactly the same, lads hoying pretend insults at each other.
