I do see Ray from time to time. I used to deliver the post to Konk recording studio, when I was a postman in Crouch End. Brian Eno had a flat on my walk as well, and Dave Vanian (The Damned). Vanian has a hearse parked on his front lawn for a while.

One occasion a few years ago, I was driving a minibus full of Polish contractors through Highgate Village. Ray was bowling across the zebra crossing outside The Flask, so I waved and he waved back (he doesn't know me from Adam). Elated, I turned to the Polish guys in the front with me and said "hey, that's Ray Davies!"

Got some blank looks and a "who da **** Ray Davies?"

Quality stuff, Sir Ray is one of the greatest living Englishmen. Dave Vanian was famously a Gravedigger before he joined The Damned.

Probably right. I lived in Stoke Newington in the early 80's, back when Amhurst Rd was known as "Murder Mile". Now you can't move for artisan bakeries, craft ales and gastro pubs

Born in Poole spent time living in Bexley Village, Surbiton, Saltash now settled(ish) in Dawlish.

Born in Portsmouth - rescued after 8 months and relocated to Highfield Lane Southampton - moved to Camberley at 13 years lived in London Abergavenny (immortalised by Marty Wilde's song) then moved to Australia when captured by a Sheila on a working holiday where I have remained in exile to this day in Terrigal New South Wales just north of Sydney.

Born and bred in Fair Oak for the first 20 years, been on the move since then getting further and further away. New Forest - Bournemouth- Cardiff- London- Dublin- Doha- Sydney and finally Melbourne.

How many moons? Enough to remember ***ins, and The Nightingale?

I remember the Nightingale, used to drink Abbot ale in there! Must of been around 94/95. I lived on Leith Road off Lordship lane for a while, which I forgot to mention in my earlier post.

I have found memories of Wood Green's urban charm! It was the first place I lived in London.
