Been thinking about the way our transfer targets, players wages etc.. have changed to be a more of a sustainable club and trying to fit in with FFP rulings (long way to go I'm sure) as well as being quite sensible in the long run however whilst we are trying to cut our cloth accordingly a number of clubs in this division seem to be going in quite the opposite direction.
Derby have spent getting onto 30 mill this season, Boro haven't been shy of pushing out a few quid and look to be spending big again in this window even teams like Sheffield Wednesday are spending and wage budget must have increased significantly, this is to name but a few. You can then look at Bournemouth who are going to get done under the rulings as well to get promoted.
Guess one question is, is there any way going forward to get back to the Prem without breaching the rules with this trend of just ****ing off the FFP allowed budget?
I mentioned this to my Liverpool (inherited wealth team) supporter and suggested FFP just get scrapped, he just said 'fan of a moneybags club wants to get rid of FFP shock!' but has no reply to my original point about these teams 'stretching the rules' nor a point I made about Man U having 100+ mill more than them to spend year on year, always tends to be quite on that point..
One other thing I read on a thread was someone commenting about what will happen to these clubs, he pointed out that they might get fined, no probs if they get promoted it's a pittance and if not they can afford to pay that and I would think they have probably factored that into their spending, also they might get an embargo, which by that point if not promoted they will have most likely strengthened the squad to make a push for the next season anyway..........then if that fails one of two things they start to sink or the cycle just starts again. With the carrot of Prem money on the horizon I think there will always be clubs who will be prepared to twist or bust therefore making FFP like a speeding ticket to those who can afford to take the gamble and giving payday loans as the only option if the smaller clubs who want to try and spend even slightly above their current budget!
