Been thinking about the way our transfer targets, players wages etc.. have changed to be a more of a sustainable club and trying to fit in with FFP rulings (long way to go I'm sure) as well as being quite sensible in the long run however whilst we are trying to cut our cloth accordingly a number of clubs in this division seem to be going in quite the opposite direction.

Derby have spent getting onto 30 mill this season, Boro haven't been shy of pushing out a few quid and look to be spending big again in this window even teams like Sheffield Wednesday are spending and wage budget must have increased significantly, this is to name but a few. You can then look at Bournemouth who are going to get done under the rulings as well to get promoted.

Guess one question is, is there any way going forward to get back to the Prem without breaching the rules with this trend of just ****ing off the FFP allowed budget?

I mentioned this to my Liverpool (inherited wealth team) supporter and suggested FFP just get scrapped, he just said 'fan of a moneybags club wants to get rid of FFP shock!' but has no reply to my original point about these teams 'stretching the rules' nor a point I made about Man U having 100+ mill more than them to spend year on year, always tends to be quite on that point..

One other thing I read on a thread was someone commenting about what will happen to these clubs, he pointed out that they might get fined, no probs if they get promoted it's a pittance and if not they can afford to pay that and I would think they have probably factored that into their spending, also they might get an embargo, which by that point if not promoted they will have most likely strengthened the squad to make a push for the next season anyway..........then if that fails one of two things they start to sink or the cycle just starts again. With the carrot of Prem money on the horizon I think there will always be clubs who will be prepared to twist or bust therefore making FFP like a speeding ticket to those who can afford to take the gamble and giving payday loans as the only option if the smaller clubs who want to try and spend even slightly above their current budget!

There is no FFP in the Premier League, the top clubs will be so rolling in it with the new TV deal that our £250 million waste will seem like petty cash next season. There was nothing 'fair' about FFP anyway, just a tool to protect the established rich clubs, several who bought their success anyway.

The Football League for some reason seem to insist on FFP which basically would mean no FL team would ever seriously be able to spend to challenge the big clubs. How fining and placing embargos is meant to help the situation is beyond me but I suspect if Boro and/or Derby blow it this season they may well fall foul of FFP next season...

Really hope Derby and big spending Burnley don’t go up this year

FFP is simply a way of enforcing a hierarchy and protecting those who currently are the elite.

And elite clubs pushed it through with support of owners who have already spunked their beans like Gartside and Whelan or who wont ever put in more like Ashley and Coates

For same reason its great news if Chelsea and United don’t get top 4.

I agree, however what are they going to do? Fine them, can't see it being anything over 8 mill which in the scheme of it isn't worth worrying about, transfer embargo? Their squads will be decent enough to compete next season as well anyway, yes it could go tits up but from what I can see it's a gamble a lot of teams are preparing to make.

Your comment about getting the rich, richer is totally what it is anyone who can't see that is crazy, hence why my Liverpool supporting mate is in favour of it. Oh it's ok for them because they are living on success from the past, they have had one major trophy in almost 30 ****ing years, might have won the odd other cup in that time but it is proof that it doesn't reward success teams like Liverpool were successful when football was becoming a global brand, but that's ok because with FFP in place it gives them a leg up over most clubs, can't really see what's fair about that

I don't really have much of an issue with Citeh trying to buy the league, it's been happening for donkeys years, for me it's refreshing to see other teams up there.

Wonder where Leicester will finish this year? I would be amazed even if they were to win the league, if their biggest assets where to move on as the 'bigger clubs' can afford to offer a lot more financially to the player, I can't see passed mid table for them next season, look what happened to Southampton when they started to disrupt near the top of the table! I appreciate Leicester might do more but still see their best assets being sold off.

Me neither when it comes to Citeh. The stupidity of the FFP is made obvious by the fact that the owners are not bothered by the fine; whereas, other owners with less wedge are running scared i, e. our Tony. Fair play?
