Jamie Mackie told Sky Sports: "I get a little bit fed up of it all with Sunderland. They're a big club and all I hear is that they're a massive club and they have a defined right to get out of this league.

...and 99% of the time it is not the fans saying it, most of us know where we are and that we deserve to be here...the worst of them all are the officials who want to be the centre of attention and dont want to be seen to be 'swayed' by sunderlands big crowds which, in fairness, is not too obvious when you look at the rubbish decisions throughout the league.

Who is this man? From whom has he heard this? What in feck's name is a defined right?!!

From my own experience, admittedly only over about a half of a century of going to games, " expectation" is almost the last adjective I would attach to us.

Fatalism? Yes.
Self self deprecation? Yes. Resignation? Yes.
Hope? Always.

" Expectation"? Apart from the expectation that things will go wrong, I've never noticed any really. We just keep going, and coming, and watching , and hoping.

Thing is, we are a big club for League one. it doesn't mean we have the automatic right to get out of it. Our danger is that we don't become a shrinking club.

Derby matches apart, most L1 clubs have their biggest home support when Sunderland arrive ...

... that's because we're a big club, simple as that.

I'd like to find out where Jamie is hearing and reading that we're "massive", because Quest don't really big us up, Sky have forgotten about us. So Jamie, sweetheart, I know football was invented in 1992, so "History" only goes back so far.But have a look at the history books, get some facts and come back to us. 6 leauge titles son. Also, get your self up to a Sunderland match, ask 20 paying fans if we think we have a "divine right" to get promoted, and about 19 of them will say we're deserve to be where we're are. I think he has us and our former rivals up the road mixed up. Funny he should mention Oxford, Mates with David Brent is he? Now Jamie, **** off.

Clinton Morrison chipping in now <laugh>

“They’ve had a lot of managers, but there’s a brilliant fan base there and it’s always a great place to go and play football.
“I just don’t know how they haven’t got back into the Championship because that’s a club that deserves to be in the Championship, if not higher.

“I’m talking purely on the size of the club, it’s down to the manager and the players to get that club back to where they should be.”
