Had a Wetherspoons mixed grill last night, it was ****e. I couldn't tell which meat was which bar the sausage but ate it anyway as I was starving. Couple of fine ales to wash it down.
Going to have a bacon, sausage and egg baguette for breakfast. From Tooters over the road, nice.

Yeah, I appreciate it is what it is and you get what you pay for. They are all horror shows when it comes to the clientele too.
The story is this though; I reluctantly work on a project away from home so by the time mid week comes along I'm sick of the gym, bored ****less and gagging for a pint. My drinking buddies also happen to be the lads I work with (believe it or not, I'm the boss!!) so they are working blokes also away from home who don't give a **** for where they eat so long as the food is edible, hot and cheap. And the beer is decent.
So we go to Wetherspoons.
Three doors down there's this really nice looking bar, Tapas too by all accounts, which has big glass front and you can see is a very much classier joint. Looks great on all counts.
We've never been close to going in the ****ing place.

I don't mind weatherspoons tbh. I eat anything... except salmon (can't stand it and clearly don't have the 'acquired taste').
I went to one of these "world buffet" places the other night with workmates. Italian, Indian, Chinese all you can eat for a tenner. Didnt know what to make of it but I'd go again. Not everything was on the mark but their Beef in blackbean sauce as well as the kebabs, chicken served in 50 million different ways and ridiculous amount of desserts was well worth the visit.
I'm no snob man, I like Wetherspoons if I'm being honest. Mainly because the ale is very good, well kept and at a good price but the food, though hit and (usually) miss, is also ok and good value. They can be chavy as **** and some of them are filled with pissed old blokes from 9am but you do come across some decent ones.
I went to one in Exeter last year and it was a genuinely smart place, a good mix of students and families. The one I go to when down at work is an ok one too, there are two in the town and it's the other one that tends to be full of drop kicks.
Was that world buffet a Cosmo by any chance? I experienced one of those, the food was not too bad but I just over ate and ended up feeling ill and full of self loathing!! I've never been near one since.
Working away is a proper drag, this week I played squash Monday & Wednesday and went the gym Tuesday & Thursday. Trouble is, I also had a Pizza express takeaway on Wednesday and had a mixed grill and six pints on Thursday. The exercise is just tick over, it barely keeps the wolves from the door.

Went to Jimmy spices in brum the other week.. Same thing, though defo wouldn't go back.
A place called Red Hot world buffet. It was alright to be fair. Food was freshly cooked as the turnover was so high.
Think I liked the fact you werent restricted to what you ate or when you ate. It's not gourmet but thought the food was good. I did get full pretty quick but we took like a 20 min break to digest some before cracking on again.

I've been to one of those, it was ok but not worth it unless you really want to pig out.
So what did you cook for your wife/mum yesterday?
Mrs Stan got breakfast in bed. She was pissed off that we woke her up so early.
She then got a selection of Thai / Chinese dishes in the evening (I won't give the evening meal a name as it will just start off Dinner Ladygate again). My daughter said she didn't like anything apart from the prawn crackers.
Being a family man is so rewarding.
Mrs Stan got breakfast in bed. She was pissed off that we woke her up so early.
She then got a selection of Thai / Chinese dishes in the evening (I won't give the evening meal a name as it will just start off Dinner Ladygate again). My daughter said she didn't like anything apart from the prawn crackers.

I cooked her nothing, she was away all weekend with my daughter and they didn't get back till about nine.
I spent all weekend hopping around after my boys tidying the trail of mess they leave in their wake and making sure the wash basket was empty and all my clothes were ironed (I'm not allowed to iron her or the kids' clothes) so she came back to a tidy clean house.
The two vases of fresh flowers went unnoticed and unappreciated naturally, as did the tidy house as she'd killed that notion withing two minutes of entering the house, but the hand painted porcelain tea mug with 'Mum' on it went down well.
She brought me back a tin of French biscuits. Because she likes the tin.

Well I had a thoroughly gastronomic weekend..
Saturday was 6 pints ish of butty bach followed by one of those world buffets. Which was ok actually though being pissed meant I ate rather a lot and felt sick and passed out by about 9. Sunday went to Stratford and to a rather good Thai restaurant over looking the river.
I then spent to the rest of the day watching season 1 of house of cards.

Sorry, I mean Manchester United Soccer ball franchise, or whatever the **** we crack on to be nowadays.
I had to drive miles across bloody Dartmoor in the mist to 'the special place' for Mother's Day duties. Wouldn't mind but the eldest of two is at Uni but I made do with propping up the phone and letting MOH loose on facetime for half an hour - seemed todo the trick. Food is always worth the trip - proper west-country grub and the finest local ales, none of which I could touch as the roads are a menace this time of year. I am still farting today after 6 gallons of tepid Pepsi.
