Have a look on the menu the next time you go for an Indian meal. The dish is a bhaji, as is the aubergine one which also isn't a fritter.I hate to labour the point, but have you read that recipe...
Method
- Heat the oil in a wok. Add the onions and spices and fry for 3-5 minutes until the onions are transparent. Tip in the tomatoes and cook for a minute or two.
- Throw in the okra and simmer for 8-10 minutes or until the okra is cooked through.
- Season well and serve.
How the heck is that a bhaji? Sounds like okra in some sort of curry sauce
I'm surprised it's considered weird, I always have it as a side. I love okra, there's a part of me that comes from okra territory where it's used in a traditional stew.I've had the weird okra dish.. Not as a bhaji. Is actually very nice..

Poor dog looks devastated, all that stuff left and he has to look on![]()
Every curry house has it! At least every traditional curry house I've ever known!Wouldn't say it's weird.. Not many curry houses have it.. I'd never heard of it til my mate ordered it. Tasted like green beans in curry really. Would have it again mind.
Don't overcook them, they turn to mush. Will give it a go. The Mrs makes a good stew in the slow cooker.

Had all the family around over the weekend, they expected me to knock up some nice food. I considered the fact that there were 7 adults and 4 kids and poured a couple of jars of curry sauce over chicken.![]()
