I admire the effort you’ve gone to there.

I’ve done a similar recipe a couple of times, a Jamie Oliver one iirc. Can’t say I was that arsed by it tbh, didn’t seem worth all the effort, so I sacked it off and have bought M&S ready made since, effort level = **** all. <laugh>
I did the Jamie Oliver one too the last time we cooked on Christmas Day and it was bloody awful. I’d made gallons of it. Ended up nipping to a corner shop for bisto best.

Pack of chicken wings
Pack of smoked bacon
1 large carrot
1 onion
2 celery sticks
Black pepper corns
Thyme
Oil
Roast 45 mins
3 heaped dessert spoons of flour after the initial roasting
Mix
Fry for 20 mins
Mash
Add about a litre of water
Once the water is agreed add a glass of port.
30 mins of mashing and cooking

I then freeze ready for Christmas Day.

On the day the meat juices get added and that's what really makes it.
Not worth the effort.

I made basil pesto the other day. It was easy to make, lovely and better than shop bought stuff but it’s messy enough not to make it worth while.

I usually make my own gravy but it’s a pretty quick effort using the left over meat juices, veg water and some stock I’ve made from previous roasts.

Not worth it on a regular basis but for one day and ready to go it is, well for me it is anyway.

Gonna knock up some of comms famous Horseradish gravy and feed it to the gfs mum.

Just incase she doesn't know i hate her.

No, did I say it was mine? I'd already eaten mine so picked a pic for representation of said dish. Mine was smoked haddock anyway. But thanks for checking mate. <laugh>
