We were on business in Miami, then flew across to San Fran, then down the coast road to Monterey etc, then down to the edge of LA before heading inland and ending up in the mountains at Lone Pine, before doing the drive through death valley to Vegas.

<ok>

I know Lone Pine, on the 395. I've driven from Mono Lake down the 395 into Mojave. I've also done the drive from Vegas through Death valley onto the 395. You do not want to break down on those roads in the desert.

Indeed. Amazing drive though eh. The dunes in the centre of death valley are bizarre

Although I haven't been there for a while, that whole area is amazing.

There is actually one place that is both in Nevada and California. Beautiful spot too..,

Yep, the 190 I think. There's a place there called Stovepipe wells, a welcome stop off after miles of desert and salt lakes.

I go to California every few years when I can afford it. I have some friends down near San Diego and up near Ventura in a place called Ojai. Ojai is beautiful, real old California. Lots of people on horseback and driving around in dusty old pickups. There's a favourite haunt of ours up there called the Deer Lodge, which serve fantastic charbroiled burgers and chili.

Don't know it, but inland California is a completely different place to the coastal area.

The place I was thinking of is Tahoe. North Tahoe is in Nevada. South in CA. Beautiful
Place..

I know, mate. I always used to take my helicopter. Rattlesnakes can't fly, see.

By the way, I know all about Mojave. Great film.

This is one of my favourite roads in California, The Maricopa highway. From the north it brings you from the oilfields near Bakersfield all the way through the mountains to Ojai. From the top you can see all the way to the Pacific coast at in Ventura.
