I mean, how on earth did Nolan never getted booked? Fouling and backchat. And he more than anyone refused to 'take it' when Dean sided with us. Vile, vile footballer.

I think Nolan was about to get booked when Carroll intervened and got booked. The ref then conveniently forgot about chasing after Nolan, who made a tactical withdrawal at that point.

Well Big Sam has probably achieved two things during his time at West Ham. Firstly, you can't take away from the fact that he got then into the Premiership and has kept them there.

Secondly, he has caused millions of football fans to reconsider their support for West Ham as their "second team"

You can't expect West Hams fans to stop supporting their team of course, but it looks like he's working on it....

When we played west ham in the championship at st marys, it was a great game. My friend is a west ham fan living in Soton and he loved that match regardless that we won 1-0 but he was appalled at yesterday's game and said he can see their brand of football becoming the " west ham way"
I thought Nolan was overly aggressive throughout towards players and ref alike. Never seen so many players man handle a ref in a match before.
It's such a shame but if noble and cole were on the pitch it may have been a different game entirely.

It wasn't. I took my West Ham mate to that game last season and it was **** too. Not as bad, but ****. The atmosphere was great becasue we gave them a lesson, but every time they got it they just lumped it. To that performance they have added all the other rubbish we saw yesterday.

I have two West Ham mates and they are both disillusioned by their team.

Yes and rightly so. That was dire yesterday and I'd have been just as angry if we'd won.

^ This.

I was pissed off that I had caught a train, limped a couple of miles through the pouring rain on my dodgy foot to watch what turned out not to be football, and that was when we were 1-0 up!

You ****ing bet we are and not just a bit but a great bloody deal "holier than thou" with every right because we aren't a **** team like West Ham.

Six hours after the game has ended and I am still angry at the referee, Nolan and Fat Sam for making 30,000 people have too sit through that rubbish.

Godders, it's Sunday morning and I've just read your posts. Our wives should have locked us in a room last night together. I got a rollicking for ruining her viewing of the gold by continually moaning about about yesterday's game.

Not a shock though was it. They played more long balls last season. They were just hoofing it out of defence to Carew the entire first half. Second half they went more attacking in terms of formation and support for Carew, it was more of a 433. But they were still hitting plenty long balls and crosses. Then they took Carew off despite him being their best player and at the end they were just hoofing it long with the Almunia and centre backs and threw almost everyone forward.

I counted in the first minute they hoofed it 5 times with an undirected up and under. Eddie Waring would have lost his voice.

Good stuff.

I dare say when Nolan wakes up on a Sunday, his arms and mouth are often more tired than his legs due to the amount of pointing and shouting he does towards officials and the opposition during a game. It's unfortunate for West Ham supporters that he doesn't channel that energy into encouraging his own team-mates more - the main job of a Captain I would have thought!?

and

Finally there is Carroll. World-class. Pacey. Unassuming. Respectful. Talented. These are all words that you definitely wouldn't use when describing him to your mates!!

He's one of those players who clearly have the wrong feet attached to the wrong legs and has the unerring ability to make the easy things look hard and the hard things look harder.

The other point made was that this was a good way of ruining 90 minutes of Premier League football. This raises an interesting point, that if the Pulis - Allardyce style were to become successful and more teams started playing that way, would the Sky subscribers decide that their money was better spent elsewhere and ultimately kill the goose that lays the TV golden eggs?

Usually within half an hour or so after a match I have moved on but yesterday I was so dismayed by West Ham's tactics and the very poor refereeing that I got quite wound up and the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov became quite worried about my blood pressure.

When you think that 30,000 people paid about £1,000,000 in total to watch the game yesterday then Fat Sam should be in court on Monday charged with fraud and deception.

Imagine if Fat Sam was a builder and you asked him to build you an extension you just know he would end featuring on every episode of Rogue Builders this century.

The Sunday Times making that cart house Carroll MotM has just about finished me off and will have to stop reading about this game as its not good for my blood pressure!
Time for me to move on and look forward to watching next weeks game against The Swans where two true football team take each other on and play the beautiful game
