Some Italian journo on Twitter has said we are close to signing Wesley Sneijder from Inter.

Personally I don't believe this for one second but just thought i'd share the news, some fans on Twitter seem very excited by it and believe the source.

Would love it to be true(unlikely I know), as he is exactly what we need right now imo.

I've just seen it too KH. To be fair, if its the same Italian journo, he doesn't usually talk **** and I've found him pretty reliable in the past.

Could well be true. Apparently we're trying to sort out terms and that's it.

What a Christmas present if its true.

He's always seemed to be too money orientated to consider a club like ours. As you guys say, hope I'm wrong and it's got some validity to it.

At 28 Sneijder doesnt fit Levy`s ethos of buying younger players that can be sold on for a profit or money back, and the rumoured £10m may be too much for a player 18 months away from his 30`s. Unless it is a situation like VDV, where by we keep him for a couple of years before selling on for our money back.

I cant see it happening, especially after Levy spent 6m on the nearly 30 year old Dempsey. Hope I am proved wrong, we do need more quality in our squad.

Wow. If this happens...... Just, wow. Levy would have pulled a masterstroke.

As with most things Tottenham, it doesn't make sense getting too excited until the thing actually happens though.

Sounds incredibly unlikely, doesn't it? His missus has already suggested that they're going to move abroad early in the transfer window, but I doubt it's to us.
I felt the same about van der Vaart though, so what do I know?
Believe it when I see it.

Yep. I agree. It's only the fact that VDV deal happened, that gives me any hope tbh. Levy would be the guy to pull it off....

The price I've read is 8.5mill euros, which isn't a lot For someone of his age. He's class and that's pretty much what we spend on Dempsey FFS. - slight difference in ability!!

Apparently he wants to join us! It might be another adebayor saga, but I can see this happening.

SOS, u were right mate!!!

other reports saying that the deal between him and spurs is sorted and he's ready to move to london, it's the fee between the clubs that hasn't been finalised yet!

surely that's the easy bit?

if this is true,we might actually have a player at the START of a transfer window. it can't be true! <laugh>

I agree. This fact alone makes this story highly implausible. <laugh>

Tottenham Sneijder talk hots up

Tottenham could be set for a major boost in the January transfer window after reports in Italy claimed Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder has agreed terms on a move.

Sneijder, 28, has been out of the Inter first-team for three-months, with Nerazzurri head coach Andrea Stramaccioni insisting the Dutchman's absence from his team is a tactical decision, while others at the club have suggested it is because he has not signed a new deal.

With the situation looking increasingly unsure, reports have moved Tottenham to the head of the queue if the London club can agree a fee - believed to be around £12 million.

Sniejder starred at the 2010 World Cup and was an integral part of the Inter side that swept to an unprecedented treble under Jose Mourinho that season, while his friend and countryman Rafael van der Vaart revealed in the summer that he would be happy to move to the Premier League.

"Of course he would like to play in England, it's the biggest league in the world," Van der Vaart said of Sneijder in the summer. "He is a good friend of mine and we have contact almost every day. He knows what to expect in the Premier League."

Andre Villas-Boas has been tracking Portuguese compatriot Joao Moutinho to fill the attacking hole at Spurs, but the Porto midfielder's high price has prevented an agreement and saw a move collapse at the end of the summer window.

Just in case you thought she had the wrong man!

Snipes is in prison for tax problems until 2013 so it must be the Dutchman.

I will be a Dutchman too if he signs.

Would absolutely love this.

I reckon Rafa might have had a hand in this - if he has talked us up then my respect for him will go up even higher.

A player like Sneijder would be awesome and would definitely fill that CAM sized hole in our side.

I'll believe it when I see him holding our shirt though.

Bit sceptical here, if the media were right he would be singed at a dozen clubs already, something tells me this is just a press release to put a third party/club under pressure
