even taking into consideration its carrabuh who wrote this thread and i imagine he spends most days crying his eyes out into a bucket at the sheer thought of being lumbered as a norwich city fan, it has to be said that this whole ânon-celebrationâ abuse is pitiful.
this season a section of our fans seem desperate to abuse someone, anyone â its becoming like a sport for them â who will be the next person they will abuse? its truly embarrassing, right up there with the snakepit hurling abuse at snodgrass or the booing of substitutions or the ludicrous frenzy that coincides with becchio entering the fray.
so hoolahan didnât jump around when he scored.
so what?
he scored didnât he? he took the chance. had he behaved unprofessionally and missed on purpose then of course we should all feel outraged but in fact, he had quite a good first half and nearly scored again. even though i personally donât think he is good enough to be included in the starting line up most weeks i am willing to give credit to the wee man because he did well and he certainly took the chance really well.
do you know what i did when he scored? i didnât jump around either - i was too busy laughing my tits off at the irony of him not only playing but also scoring against the club who wanted him a few weeks ago. its amazing how often that sort of weird thing happens in football, like players scoring against their old clubs even if they hardly ever score usually!
plus, the fact he DID celebrate by giving a fist pump before being mobbed just reiterates how utterly stupid the reaction has been. ok, so it was a bit muted but what a f**king bastard! i mean, imagine scoring a goal and ONLY giving a little fist pump. he should have ripped his shirt off and run down the other end of the field and jumped into the norwich section - that really would have proven heâs norwich through-and-through, eh?
but of course, he isnât norwich through-and-through, is he? he just happens to be employed to play football for our club, something he has done with a great deal of ability over the past few years. ok, heâs hit harder times now and struggles to get in the team but thatâs football - time moves on and heâd like to play more often as youâd like to think all players would (though not all do).
did he want to leave? yeah, he did, because he thought he might play more football. did he go about securing a move in the right way? he certainly could have handled the situation better imo. did he actually go? no. did he give his all in the yellow and green on sunday? yep.
so pull your heads out of your backsides and stop abusing one of OUR players just because he didnât do cartwheels when he scored an ironic goal. he scored the goal, that is all that matters. and under the circumstances i suspect his more restrained celebration was aimed more in the direction of our manager than anything else. we are in a scrap and we need fans to get behind the players, not give them dogs abuse over something which was so inane it didnât even register with me until i saw the nonsense reported after the game.
quit abusing everyone and start f**king âsupportingâ the club you all claim to support.
