According to most posters on here.

Couldn't believe reading the match thread how many people were saying great its 1-1 hold on for a draw don't go for the win then Rickie Lambert will only miss one league game.

It's pathetic really it is, Have we not got a great squad? Are we all about one player?

Its quite obvious to all the other sides in this division then keep Lambert quiet and they have nothing else.

So to all the posters and anybody else who wants to put some input in are Southampton F.C nothing without Mr Lambert?

We are NOT a one man team - we just have key players who improve the side but we can win without them

we aren't a one man team, but he is vital to the way we play

this thread makes no sense. Of course we will want our best striker to miss the least amount of league games possible. It's not that crazy an idea.

I see what Alex is saying, to wish for a replay for Lambert's sake is madness. It would require us playing another game when players who were previously lookign fatigued (Lallana and Fox in particular) would have had to play again and would be another opportunity for injuries to some important players. Happy to not have an extra game tbh!

Time to use our academy players more often.

Fair comment we won today which we have failed to do with Lambert more often than not recently.

Do you think the rest of the side don't try as hard when Lambert is on the pitch?

That's what most people must think as he is the only player we apparently can't do without.

It showed that today?

Explain how this makes no sense?

It's quite an obvious point I am making.

I guess your one of the we can't win a game if Lambert isn't playing group.

Nobody thinks that we are a one man team. Unbelievably we want our best striker ( and the championship's ) to play every game possible in the league as all of our other 3 strikers are injured. We obviously are not a one man team as our midfield has overpowered many this year. Liverpool are going mental as their best attacking asset is suspended are they a one man team NO ! they like every other football fan want their best striker available to play as they ultimately score the goals that win games.

Not a one man team as such, but you have to play to your best strengths and the side is built around Lambert and Lala and when they are missing it takes a while to re-adjust.

Thank you for giving a decent response it doesn't happen often on here :)

I know how important Lambert is in my honest opinion if I had to chose I would regard him as our best player.

I just think one man does not win you a league title or promotion a team does which was my original point!

I also get your point that extra games are not needed at this stage of the year.

We can cope without Lallana a lot better than Lambert - as someone mentioned the team is built around him. I think quite a lot of teams would struggle without their best player.

I don't see your gripe to be honest.Fans want to have their best players available so of course we'd look at ways to have Lambert back as quick as possible! be a bit weird if we didn't if you ask me.Nobody is saying we are a one man team,we are just saying that he is one of our best players and we could do with him back as he is a massive part to the way we play.Do you think if Barcelona had Messi missing that they'd want him back as quick as possible? yes of course they would even though they can win without him! Ask any fan of any team and i'm sure they'd say that they'd want their best player playing!

It's not a "gripe" its just a simple point we won today without Rickie if we win against Forest would you then change a winning team just to have him back?

If we win all the games whilst he is banned does that show we play a different way without him and one that teams are not used to?

Without a doubt i'd have him back if we win the next couple of games! The man has 15 league goals to his name already this season, you don't leave that kind of player out.

Don't know yet if we play a different way without him, won't know until we play i guess but either way he'll be straight back in the starting line-up against Cardiff.
