"One man team" is one of the stupidest expressions in football. If you take out the best player from any team of course the team isn't going to function aswell as they would with the player in the team. Lambert is vital to the way we play going forward so when he doesn't play it is noticable, we can win games without him but we are much better equipped to win games when he is availbale just like any other team when their best player is available.

All teams rely on their strikers.

Lambert is the most effective player in this league, he would would be first choice forward for ANY team in this league. Teams who play us have one main objective, restrict Lambert who is pivotal to our attacking play. If you think this Saints team is as effective whether Lambert is playing or not??.................its not.

Thats why I think the Coventry lad is worth a punt, young, similar style, stature, potential, but thats just my opinion,

I wouldnt have asked to play for a draw, but having lambert back for as many games as possible will always be a benefit. He is awesome.

For people that have a problem with teams that focus on one player, i'll mention Barca. Though they have possibly the greatest squad in history, messi makes them tick and scores/provides most of their attacking threat. They "need" him like we "need" rickie.

Come on Guys and gals Alex is making a good point. There have been a number of posts on this and other threads that suggest that with out Lambert we are not at our best. When you think about it they are right too, we are not at our best when we haven't got the leagues leading goal scorer in it. As for the posters suggesting a draw would be a good result, I think that was said more with a bit of tongue in cheek but in reality they are right too!!! I can understand those that say Saints fans should want the team to win every match and quite right too, but because somebody says "mind you if it's a draw etc" why condemn them for daring to suggest a different way of looking at it?........Thought it worth a mention.........

You can never play for a draw (as you'll probably end up losing), but a draw would not have been the end of the world because of Lambert's suspension. However, winning was important for team morale. Don't forget we just won a game without Lambert and we can probably get results against Forest and Leicester, but we do need more strikers just for this eventuality. Let's hope Lee gets his work permit and perhaps another striker will be brought in. I noticed in Adkins postmatch interview that he criticized the players in the first half and Ward-Prowse said that Adkins got amongst them at half-time..so he can do the hard stuff when he has to.
