The transfer policy at the club is absolutely shambolic. They're one of the only clubs in the premier league that consistently make a profit and yet they decide not to spend. Instead of spending around £10mill to bring in a quality striker (that they've missed since the likes of Henry, Bergkamp and Adebayor left), they spend £12mill on a youngster who's highest level of playing is league one, £10mill on a striker who's only done ok in the French league, a few mill on a random Korean striker and brought in Chamakh who isn't that good either. Since the invincibles season they've lost all of their players in 8 years. Theres no longer a top quality keeper on the books (Schezny or whatever it is isn't that great) they haven't got in two strong centre halves (Mertesacker and Vermaelan are good but I don't think they're a patch on Campbell and Toure in their primes), they don't have a top quality left back anymore, they don't have a combative centre mid, they don't have two quality wingers like Ljungberg and Pires were and they only have one decent striker. Add to that that the rest of their squad is full of youngsters who aren't that great, they're in for a rough season. During the invincibles year they had like for like replacements who were almost as good as the players that they were coming in for (Van Persie coming on for Reyes, Keown replacing Toure, Clichy replacing Cole etc.) and now they don't have anyone anywhere near those standards. I'm no saying go all out and buy a new squad of players, but by buying the right ones (e.g. a goalkeeper and a strong centre mid one season and a quality striker the season after...) and building a strong squad together slowly, then they will actually have a chance in winning some silverware in a few years time.

1-1 now. No doubt his keeper will **** up in the last minute and he'll get sacked, despite being the club's most successful manager.

Weird how the consensus in this thread is "spend more and don't waste your time building for the future".

    Only in your head.

To everyone else, it says he should have invested some of Arsenal's substantial profits in buying some decent players, so he can maintain those decent profits.

Are you sure you're good at adding up?

Funny that. I fail to recall Martin Keown returning to Arsenal as a 43-year-old after Kolo Toure departed to Man City in 2009 <laugh>

Wenger's a ****ing cock and 95% of Arsenal fans are ****ing cocks. I don't think there's another team in existence I'd rather see lose.

Actually Keown did return to Arsenal and it was 2009 I think. He returned as a defensive coach and is now a scout there I believe.

I think Arsene's problem is apart from being a grade 1 prat. Is as other have said he hasn't used the fact the club makes a profit to buy players and he's let players leave without replacing them. Its okay to have a few kids in the side, but when you are supposed to be one of the big clubs in the Country, you need to have experience there as well. If he gets 14 years again I'd be surprised, as it stands they've only played 5 games yet and yes looked poor, i'm sure they will finish strongly, but they do need to look into improving the squad
