He was revolutionary in his early days. But the game always evolves, moves on, and he either didn’t or wouldn’t recognise that.

Jose should probably take notice, the game has evolved and he's left playing defensive hoof ball. Football is an art form to the best managers these days. Hopefully Jose follows suit and ****s off too.

The irony is that his managerial achievements are likely to be much more appreciated throughout the rest of the country than in the capital ...

3 EPL titles (including 2 doubles) and 7 FA Cups ... plus a team that went a whole league season unbeaten ... that is truly a phenomenal managerial record by anyone's standards <ok>

That's true and time is a healer, even the Wenger Out crew will respect him one day.

There's some proper angry ****ers on TalkSport today, just heard Andy having a ****ing meltdown even though he's got what he wants <laugh>

I agree they should respect his achievements, but he really should have left 5 years ago.
He hung around like a bad smell, almost tearing the club in half, fights in the stands and ****. He should have put the welfare of the club over his personal pride and ego.
He didn't, that is why people are pissed at him.
Arsene always said he would ALWAYS see out a contract, so he was definitely pushed out.
No way he quit.

To put that into real perspective ... over the same period Spurs and Liverpool combined (arguably clubs of similar size and expectation) have won 3 FA Cups (all Liverpool) ... OK Liverpool did have that 'winning' Champions League draw (penalties win) in 2005 (not forgetting that it came courtesy of a ghost goal in the semi) ... but just imagine how much Wenger would be getting pelters if he'd won a trophy in such a fluke fashion? ...

... but winning a league can never be fluke ... best over 38 games says it all and only United and Chelsea have bettered Arsenal under Wenger ... City have now equalled it but look at how much money they have needed to spend to do it <ok>

But to Arsenal fans it became more abut what the club had become, Yes they were successful but **** me he was a stubborn twat.

His style got so stale and the fans new that. His ability in the transfer window became utterly useless. His record in Europe is extremely poor considering they've qualified 20 times for the CL.

He should have left 5 years ago, recent cup success or not.

100% agree. He was so stubborn and egotistical he nearly blew the club to pieces.

nah now he's announced it i'm sure wenger will go out legend.

He hung around like a bad smell but at his peak, he won the league, plenty of FA cups and played the best football at the time and created the invincibles.

Not just that he's overseen the club and transformed them into a real power house.

He's basically Poch and Levy combined but with trophies

No the fans are tearing him a new one already even though he's going. Put the radio on it's been quite funny!

Yeah I hope his legacy, the thing he will be remembered for, is the double wins and the unbeaten league season.
Like Sky said, time is a great healer. What's done is done.
Exciting, yet nervous time for Arsenal fans.

It's talksport. **** me you have people on 606 (if i listen to anything) thinking Klopp should have been sacked. That's the level of idioacy you get from people phoning up

I guarantee he'll get a good reception this weekend at the emirates.

It wasn't you on the radio mate?

I only listen to TalkSport because it's the audio version of not606. I like the Drive show, should be a funny one later!

One way to judge is to look back at teams and ask yourself did you enjoy watching them as a neutral?

For instance, I used to enjoy United under Tommy Doc when he played with Steve Coppell and Gordon Hill on the wings and Stuart Pearson up front ...

Arsenal were great to watch during the Henry, Pires, Overmars, Bergkamp years ...

Now I enjoy watching City, Liverpool and only slightly less, Spurs ... if they are on the box I'll look forward to watching ...

Absolute legend of a manager. The most successful arsenal manager ever. Gonna have to properly digest this and comment properly later.

But suffice to say Wenger will leave Arsenal having absolutely shat all over the spuds :)

Kroenke said it's the hardest decision he's ever made. Accepting a resignation is never a decision so he was sacked.

Odd how many Gooners want Vieira as manager?

Am I missing something here? WTF is that about.

Certainly appears that way, aye.
He should have left 5 years ago, on his own terms.
Where do we think he will go now?
Real are probably going to sack Zidane at the end of the season unless he wins the CL, but I have a feeling they are after Poch.
PSG maybe?
