well said hope this post gets used again when the rats on our board start the post mortem which will happen regardless if we stay up or not.... proving my point that some of our fans are turning fickle due to these circumstances. I would add also that Sword's comment about living and dying by the sword is very apt although I believe he would complain if we won the Champions League
Afterbirth you really are a twat, why don't you f**koff and bum the turkey boys if you love so much. As thai chicken wtf has it got to do with naaarrridge fans on how the QPR board spend their money it ain't your team so f**koff. Explain what the posts were about at the start when you hoped we didn't get players in, then. You don't like it because you can't sign this profile of player and you resent us because we can, even though you're higher than us in the league. How many times do you see QPR fans sites discussing Norwich players?........Never cause we don't give a **** what you do, the only time you come up is when we are about to play you, and obviously after, when that sour faced scottish bas*ard instructs your cheatin scumbag players to dive and cheat as much as possible wonder whether he resorts to that because unlike you he thinks the players we have signed are better than they have been performing
stanleybowles is not doing a great service to the general level of comment for other QPR fans here. Glad to see you're still communicating with the usual wit and wisdom ive come to expect from you though justin! keep it up (as the actress said to the bishop)
Well you know what to to do, ......bit like with the running of our club keep your nose out, you lot feel the need to comment on everyone else's club criticising them be it the way they play,or how they spend their money whatever, just stick to watching your own team and concentrate on what delia the lush's latest ramblings are instead of sticking your nose in here. What was it the other day oh yeah complaining and slaggin the swans off because they're getting all the attenion and no one notices or cares about the yella turds
You are so ignorant of the reality of what happened its laughable. Firstly, the new owner didn't panic buy to appease the supporters, he panic bought because when he finally got control of the Club there were only a few days left in the window (spending not a penny more than Norwich I might add) to sign players. A window that you had all summer to use when our previous scumbag owners toyed with the Club and effectively ruined any chance we had this season. So don't blame the new owner who did everything he could with the time he had available. Our entire pre-season was a shambles due to the low-life's that were in charge at the time. Granted, in hindsight it looks like a terrible move appointing Mark Hughes as Manager as his results have been not far off dreadful to date. But I ask you Thai, what way would your season have turned out if Lambert wasn't allowed spend a single cent during the summer and have your whole, ever so vital, pre-season fu*ked? (Oh and by the way, I hope you appreciate being allowed post your condescending remarks on our board as we seem to be effectively barred from yours.)
You're right, the situation was a crap one for you because of the departing owners. And you didn't spend a lot of money on transfer fees at all really. The one thing you supposedly did do though was pay high wages on 4 yr contracts which didn't have any relegation clauses in them. If you drop and all your players stay you should easily romp back up, but it will be a very expensive year for you, and you may break a record for % of wage to earnings. Still, you can take the hit, and add faurlin back to the team and you should be pretty immense.
Totally correct. I think we'll have lost a packet this season on stupid wages and contracts. That's certainly a very valid criticism Battersea.
its not even meant to be a criticism Swords, Norwich have been there too, and i think the only reason we have a wage cap of 15k and relegation clauses (-33% to -50%) in all our players contracts is because the guy overseeing them was with us when we nearly collapsed in league one those years ago. He learnt how serious it could get for us. QPR won't have that problem, because your backers have money, and are in it for the long haul. Its a learning process for them, and i think they wanted to pay a relatively high price for 'named' players, as they are so keen to raise the global visibility of the club for marketing potential. It should be noted that theyve stated that they want to make money out of QPR, not just put it in, and they've inherited all the debts owed by the club. However far from being a negative, i think it bodes well for any worst case scenario like relegation. With a wage bill that may dwarf the parachute payments, they are better off doubling down and investing more in the short term to get promoted, than to rack up costs in the Champ doing it half arsedly.
How did this thread get to be about the money we may or may not have spent compared to Delia? it says 'well done Reading' and thats what I want to say, which doesn't come easy because the thought of the half-hoops replacing the R's in the premiership is wrist-slittingly depressing. Gotta say that winning 15 out of 17 or whatever is amazing - even if they did need half our championship team to do it
i guessing youre joking swords but Stephen (or richard) Fry is not our chief executive, David Mcnally is!
Many people here blame our poor season on T&C not spending during last summer resulting in last minute buys under TF. While i agree to a point, i believe our problems run deeper that just this. We went throught 2-3 very poor years before that under the goons. We had 11 managers in 3 years. Each manager had his own system, formation, tactics etc etc. For several year we floundered about without any clear idea how to progress. It was during this period that our club really fell apart. We had no youth policy, little money spent on decent players and managers lasting to more than 10-15 games. How can a club build in this situation. Amit's appointment of NW turned out to be a master stroke. NW knew the championship inside out. On a tiny budget he brought in champ old timers who he knew would produce week in week out. Under NW we had the first settled team in years. Realistically, our team, squad, club and owners were not ready for promotion. Instead of developing a good team/squad and strengthining it over several years we went up ill prepared. I am quite sure NW probably had a numbers of players targeted to strengthen our team and squad, but he was not allowed spend as much as a penny. Our team was simply not good enough to survive in the Prem. When TF came in he wanted to show the fans that he and the other investors meant business. You have to ask yourself what players are generally available in the last week of the transfer market and the answer is simple, players that other clubs do not want. NW tried to blend the new signings in but they were not top class players and really ferdinand, young, campbell were not much better than we already had. Sacking NW was the correct decision IMHO. MH has been really unlucky IMO. Shocking decisions by officials and stupid decisions by players at crucial times have cost him and us so badly. While others might, i don't hold MH responsible for this. He has been genuinely unluckly. IMO his signings were calculated and brought in to strengthen specific areas of weakness in our team. While last summer cost us badly, for me our problems lie in the fact that realistically we were not ready for promotion. We still have a chance to stay up. Slim but possible. If we go down we must stick with MH and the best of what we have. Cut loose the slackers and do all we can to keep Diakite. Taiwo is not essential. Bring in 3-4 young hungry players and start afresh with the knowledge that more change of management will only destabilise us again.
That's no way to run a club but what a great team we will have plus not forgetting our new gym and hot tub
Anyway well done Reading I am off to bum something in the bottom ... I am so looking forward to the post Mortem threads where we look at each others bums I am sure there will be plenty of **** and piles of entries I also get to name the fickle in my report thread ... Who's arse has its own orbit What a summer What a bummer
That's a critical point there NUTS. Well spotted. However, with regard to Hughes, the proof is in the pudding. Given a load of dosh in Jan to keep us up and it looks like hes turning out to be an abject failure. He came in and tried to build a brand new team with half the season already gone. Madness. Instead he should have left the defense largely alone as we said at the time and concentrate on center-mid and up front. His team is only now just starting to show glimpses of its potential but its probably far too late. Mark Hughes' tenure thus far has been simply disastrous.
I think that MH has bought quality. Better players than our club has had for a long time. Onuoha will develop into a great player.A potential club captain. Zamora is quality but it is difficult to play up front every game by yourself especially away from home. He has taken some flack on here but IMO he is a good buy. Cisse is top quality but obviously mentally scarred. Unfortunately Diakite and Taiwo are only on loan. Taiwo is pretty decent but Traoire offers so much more going forward. Can't see us keeping him if we go down. MH has bought well. You can't disgree that he has been terribly unluckly. Officials have deffo cost us at least 5 Pts. You can't dismiss this. We would be safe only for some shocking decisions this year. The red cards have also cost us. You can't blame MH for what Cisse and Diakite did. He has been unlucky. The club have been unlucky.
Yet everyone in the stadium could see that Diakite was going to get a second yellow and an early bath, MH gambled and lost.
Pleased Reading are going up as had a nice each way bet on them back in August at tasty odds of 18/1. They are a good footballing side and sure will do well next season. Hope Gaspar Gorkks and Legs get a fair crack of the whip in the premiership. Never thought we should have sold Gorkks last season. Just hoping for an unlikely miracle and we get to play them in the premiership. Alot will rest on how bad Bolton will be in their last 6 games but my head says there easier run in against games with not a lot to play for will give them the edge. I do hope im wrong though.
