I know some on here find it difficult to praise them up the road, but have to say well done to Pardew on winning Barclays manager of the year, I didn't see a season like this coming for them. Just goes to show what can be done without flashing the cheque book and some great scouting. Just to give this some balance though , think they will be a one season wonder and will slip into a mid table team next year.

Pardew has done a great job and put together a good squad without spending a fortune and can now tinker with it each transfer window bringing in 1 or 2 rather than a boat load like we have over the past few years.

IMO its going to be a busy summer for SAFC as MoN looks to stamp his authority on the side and there is going to be a few departures.

As highlighted earlier today there is some quality available on bosman's this summer, the likes of Mohamed Diame, Junior Hoilett, Hugo Rodallega and Arouna Kone would offer quality to the side without breaking the bank and for SAFC to improve as a team and the squad this is the way to go. Save what money we do have for transfer fee's for the right player.
 
To be fair there was only ever going to be one winner and that was Pardew, done a great job up the road for the barcodes.

Reaping the rewards of Chris Hughton and Graham Carr's good work. Managers get the blame when its going wrong so he is rightly getting the praise.

Fancy a bet on him being the first Premier League manager to be sacked next year though

If we take the 4 players mentioned there and say we took them all on free transfers this is approximately what 4 decent free transfers would cost the club, Cest said in a previous post that free transfers would probably generate a signing on fee of about 2 million each. So we start with 8 million, then the contract you would think really young players would get a 5 year contract ( thinking only Hoilett here ) let say decent but not huge wages of 30,000 a week that equates to about 1.6 million a year and over a 5 year contract that is about 8 million in wages. So Hoilett would cost the club 10 million to bring him to SOL , the remaining 3 being a bit older would get only a 3 year contract but because they were "free " they would get a slightly higher wage of say 40,000 a week , which is about 2 million a year or 6 million for the length of contract, so in total with signing on fee 8 million each. So if you add it all up it would take about 32 million to bring 4 free transfers to the SOL.
 
No other choice, especially given the hostile reception he was given by the fans. But if they can sneak a champions league place, who knows? They could build on it
 
The smarmy twat has done a great job, there is no deying that..It's just a pity it's them black and white bar stewards who have once again come out smelling of roses..

If we lose some of our key players = you're probably right

If we keep them and strengthen = we'll probably do just as well, if not better. The Europa League/Champions League takes its toll, but we've done this well this season with only Cisse for less than half of it, and Ben Arfa and Santon missing for very large spells of it as they adapted to the league.

Plus, this has been the settling in season for many of our key players so hopefully (if they stay) they'll be able to go 100mph from the word go next season

Respect you a lot vince but trotting out the lucky line after 37 games sounds bitter and twisted. We have had moments of luck this season, and moments of bad luck, we are exactly where we deserve to be on the strength of our performances, and some need to learn to just accept that.

Not saying we'll do as well next year mind, I refuse to comment on that until we see what happens in the transfer market.
