For a newly promoted club to survive, you need a bit of luck. A hell of a lot of things have gone Sunderlands way so far this season. I'd say we had a bit of luck in the first game against Everton but after that we've had a few things go against us.
Should have had at least a point at Fulham, an extra 2 against Bournemouth, probably deserved a point against Spurs and outplayed Burnley for the most part. Let's say we could possibly have had another 5 points at this stage if lady luck had fully backed us. That would put us on 16 points which would be a point behind Sunderland.
Sunderlands expected goals against and expected goals for will even out over the season and they will ultimately fall away. They also spent around 50% more than us.
Fair play to them but ultimately the difference between them and us is their players are exceeding their stats. Ours are performing roughly where they should be.
