Think this is when the Bosman ruling went wrong! Barcelona and a lot of top top clubs are now so far in debt that 95% of their signings are freebies. AC Milan, Juventus and plenty more. Most prem clubs are now offering 4 and 5 year deals to try and keep hold of their players and if losing them manage to get top price due to contract. We started doing it too when normally deals were 2 to 3 year deals. We also know that once the contract gets to 2 years the value falls off a Cliff. It all goes wrong for the club when a player loses value because of injury, especially when the club think they have a top top striker who scores almost 20 goals in the Prem and gets an England call so his value rockets and the club act by giving him a huge pay rise and a long contract. Injury then forces a lack of fitness and goals and games for 2 years. The player is rewarded for nothing which means the club have lost out. Bamfords value will have been £30m+ at the end of 20/21 season but now only £10m as not performed since.And on a posit note this morning I see Bamford has four more years remaining on his contract. Brilliant

Exactly Bamford will be set up nicely and to me is worth less than what he recieves.
Good luck with getting that much for a crock who is finished. Surely there is not another club in the world daft enough to take a punt on him.

MLS is in my opinion, about equivalent to the Championship from the research I have done.
According to WhoScored.com, he has an average rating of 7.25 whilst playing in the MLS, which I consider to be equivalent to a Premier League player getting a rating of approx 6.8, which for this season would put him in the Top 80 Premier League players, on the basis of the rating system used by WhoScored.
I can't give any personal opinion because I have no idea who he is, whether he is good or not, or would fit our system (whatever that is),so can only compare him against the list of data I have to see where he fits within that remit.
So Aski… just as an alternate spin on the same information. Most observers I’ve seen have the MLS at mid champ - top league 1 level.
So exciting young talent can come through… eg Aaronson - but 26 year olds?

If you look at ratings in the MLS All the top players are listed as AMs. Our boy on ratings is in the lower end of the top 10 overall, but that also makes him lower end top 10 for his position.
So would you be excited about signing the 8th best attacking midfielder in league 1?

Very true fella. We’ve just indulged in stat presentation from a glass half full and glass half empty perspective regarding a player that neither of us know from Adam.
On the subject of Bamfords contract I tried to highlight the problems clubs have these days in the Prem. The contract is supposed to protect the club but in Bamfords are and any other player who isn’t doing the biz, the contract is loaded in favour of the player and damages the club. Players are already blackmailing their clubs by demanding a pay rise and a long term contract because they can walk away on a free. Thats wht better players are doing and walking to the likes of Barcelona and getting a big pay rise….. to me the contract has gone full circle from Bosman.
Took great delight today turning the telly off when the World Cup started.
