The ghost of Bielsa needs laying to rest and the only way for that to happen is if the team get results right from the off. The new players need to prove themselves fast, the coach and his tactics need to be effective, even if its not pretty. We had a bad start last season waiting for our first win, so getting a couple of wins early doors is a massive bonus. Marsch has had a full pre season and every player he wanted except for CDK. He still needs a striker but he has a bigger fitter squad than we had for the start of last season. You just know whats going to happen if we start getting beat…..

Only wrist slasher Ristac thinks that mate.

But then on his positive days he thinks we might finish 17th so it's not all bad <ok>
No not at all….

I believe if we’d went down and relied on the likes of Joffy, Cresswell, Hjelde, Summerville, Drameh and a few of the experienced players we’d have come straight back up stronger.

I have no validation for that opinion, it’s just a belief. I believe one season in the championship for those younger players would have been the making of them. They’d have been the backbone of the following season.

It doesn’t mean I wanted to go down.

This season have we learnt any lesson from last season?

Last season we fully backed Bielsa, he turned down Orta players, he insisted on a small squad, he called all the transfer activity shots. The idea of a director of football is to ensure we don’t have that “new manager my players” syndrome.

Orta has basically signed every player wanted by Jesse, we haven’t learnt a thing in the transfer market. They might be great players, if they’re not we are in major trouble.

I thought Jesse was meant to be a smooth transition from Bielsa, he’s basically said the players can’t work his system, they’re not good enough, I need my own guys in.
